That does not sound like a good idea. You need to be normalized with respect to thyroid function and not having to take a medication that retards the speed and force of cardiac contraction before undergoing the stress of an elective surgery, in my opinion.

it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Your blood pressure should be under control in order to be a candidate for surgery. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

The thyroid is very important and the hormones it secretes help us regulate many aspects of our body including our weight etc. It is important that this is looked at by your endocrinologist prior to your surgery. This is why we send you guys for clearance. If your PCP feels it is safe without further evaluation by the endocrinologist prior to surgery then you can proceed. BUT my gut feeling is they are sending you for further evaluation and would recommend that happens before your surgery date. You want to heal properly from surgery and get the best possible result. This may mean you need to push the date back until all is looked at/treated.

Medical conditions should be assessed and properly managed prior to having elective surgical procedures. I suggest you contact your plastic surgeon and let them know about your medical history if that was not disclosed during the consultation.

If you are still in the process of being evaluated and medical treatments have not been finalized or fine-tuned yet then it may be better to postpone elective surgical procedures.
