Hi. I have a bbl/Tummy tuck scheduled for this month. I did my pre labs and found out I have hyperthyroidism with a slight left 0.04 bigger thyroid. I’m now on propranolol to help my heart from racing but I don’t see my endocrinologist until January 5th. So I won’t know if I’m going on medication since it’s just such a mild thyroid issue. So my question is, is it safe to pursue my surgery?

Answer: Hypertension Dear Easygoing515916, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Your blood pressure should be under control in order to be a candidate for surgery. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Is it ok to get a Brazilian Butt Lift/tummy tuck if I have hypertension? The thyroid is very important and the hormones it secretes help us regulate many aspects of our body including our weight etc. It is important that this is looked at by your endocrinologist prior to your surgery. This is why we send you guys for clearance. If your PCP feels it is safe without further evaluation by the endocrinologist prior to surgery then you can proceed. BUT my gut feeling is they are sending you for further evaluation and would recommend that happens before your surgery date. You want to heal properly from surgery and get the best possible result. This may mean you need to push the date back until all is looked at/treated.
