I started the injections aged 27 and have had two lots of Sculptra, and about six lots of Radiesse. Nearly two years have gone by and my face shape has altered so dramatically and isn't going back to how it was at all. It was once delicate but is now very heavy and broad/masculine. I saw two different injectors (both surgeons) who are blaming each other so can't go back to either for impartial advice. My chin and cheeks are very wide now, would surgery help if nothing changes in the next year?
Answer: Long-term Effects of Radiesse & Sculptra Hi and thank you for sharing your question here. Both of theses fillers are considered stimulatory fillers and to some extent can stimulate new collagen synthesis and remodeling, which tends to make their results longer-lasting. Nonetheless, they still cannot be considered permanent fillers and they are not expected to change the shape and appearance of face permanently. It might be best to assess the changes objectively by comparing your before and after pictures. I hope it helps and good luck!

Answer: Unhappy with Radiesse and Sculptra--Venus Legacy, 5FU/steroid injections This is tough to answer without pictures. These are long-lasting fillers, but they won't last permanently. If you are unhappy with your results; Venus Legacy and 5fu/steroid injections may help reverse them. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Sculptra Effects Thank you for your question. I am sorry you do not like the results of your treatments. Both Sculptra and Radiesse, while long lasting, are not permanent and the effects will fade with time. I make a practice of viewing professional photographs of my patients taken between the ages of 20 -30 years of age. In this way I am able to see where they previously had volume and where they did not. Everyone wants to look like their younger self – not someone else. Without having photographs to reference, I would not recommend having surgery to correct the issue as your face shape will return to its natural look once the effects of Sculptra and Radiesse fade. I would recommend consulting with a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon who has extensive training and experience in injections as they will fully understand both facial anatomy and the artful placement of injectables for optimal results.

Answer: Radiesse and Sculptra are not Permanent Neither Radiesse nor Sculptra are permanent, although they do fall into category of fillers that are long lasting. Sculptra claims it can actually last for greater than two years and Radiesse for greater than one year. That being said, even though two years might feel like an eternity, you probably just need to give it more time. Again, these fillers are not permanent so as long as you are not adding additional filler, your appearance should return to normal over time. If you are really worried, I would suggest an in-person consultation with a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon who did not previously inject you and get their opinion.

Answer: Sculptra and Radiesse results Neither Sculptra nor Radiesse are permanent fillers. Both are considered biostimulatory fillers and work by stimulating your body to produce its own collagen. Since you have had a fairly large amount of product injected into your face, it may take longer for the results to wear off. I would avoid any additional treatments, including surgery at this point. Of course, this is being said without having evaluated you in person or without seeing photos of you.
