I had my 2nd round of Sculptra 16.mo ago.My face is distorted with no signs of collagen growth stopping.What can I do? (photos)

Sculptra takes about 3-4 months to start to take full affect and show results. If you are unhappy with the treatment; Venus Legacy and 5fu/steroid injections may help reverse the results. It may take a little bit longer; it all depends on your personal case. After 24 months I would advise you to make an appointment with different provider to check it out and discuss your options if your situation does not improve. Some treatments have been used to neutralize and minimize Sculptra effect such as steroid injection. I would advise you to wait it out and see what happens. Best of luck!

Dear Helpme88: Thanks for sharing your photos. At 29 you look awesome. At 29, the body retains the capacity to regenerate aging cells and supporting structures with an active immune system. Sculptra is a “bio-filler” which stimulates the repair and regeneration of collagen and other structural molecules and cells in the skin and underlying soft tissues. It is not perfect and like any other device or medication it must be used judiciously by a skillful and talented, experienced and hopefully Board Certified Physician Injector. It is considered a very advanced technique. If you have no granules or nodules, I would recommend allowing the Sculptra to complete its cycle of stimulation to “restore” your “previous appearance.”  Use skin tightening options and / or hyaluronic acid fillers to “touch up” your desires. Kenalog and collagenase as you point out will break down and atrophy or weaken tissues and collagen but easily diffuse into undesired adjacent tissues potentially causing more deformity. If you have residual HA fillers in your cheeks, skillful use of hyaluronidase may reduce cheek size. Sculptra is an FDA approved filler that consist of poly-l-lactic Acid. Sculptra particles, when injected into the deep dermis and subcutaneous fat stimulate collagen production resulting in correction of age related volume loss in the face. The pictures you have uploaded are somewhat difficult to compare because of differences in lighting and positioning. That being said, the top left photo, labeled "before sculptra", suggest that you had full cheeks prior to the Sculptra injection. I'm not sure how much Sculptra was used or where it was injected but it seems that over injection and poor placement are probably the issue here. Sculptra is one of the longer lasting fillers with results lasting up to 25 months in some studies. Unfortunately, there is not much that can be done to reverse the filler and that is one reason why only experienced injectors should work with Sculptra. You will just need to give it time.
