Is Sculptra injected into hollow cheeks and temples safe? (Photo)

I'm 23. I had a very thin face and basically no support on the side of my face so I was recommended to get Sculptra. This will be performed by a nurse who specializes in facial fillers. She said she will be injecting into my hollow cheeks and temples. Am I too young for this and is this safe?

Thank you for your question. Sculptra is commonly injected into the cheek and temple area. It will grow your own collagen. If it is an area that has always bothered you, and can be improved, age doesn't necessarily play a large role. Because you are younger, you should have a strong response with long lasting results. Yes, it's safe. I find that a combination approach is needed for this area.  you may have needed more to start.  It takes 3-6 months to see improvement with sculptra. I combine with an immediate filler or PRP to get even more collagen production long term.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Thank you for your question. Sculptra is best for larger areas where you desire a significant amount of added volume. It is great for sunken cheeks. Unlike other injectable fillers, Sculptra is a volumizing filler that causes the body to produce new collagen. This means it takes longer to show results, but also that the results may last longer than other filler. Sculptra might a good option for you but I recommend getting an in-person consultation with a board-certified dermatologist.

Hi there and great question! Sculptra is an excellent choice refilling those hollowed areas. It is completely safe to use (and preferred) in those areas to gradually fill them! Sculptra stimulate's the body's natural ability to produce collagen which will result in more volume and fullness in the area treated. This will happen over a period of a couple of months and can last up to 2 years. In fact, the younger the patient is receiving Sculptra, the more quickly the body responds to producing the collagen, so, you'd be the perfect patient! The average number of vials per session in our practice is between 1-2. Sculptra should be repeated every one to two years for maintenance. Please make sure your injector is experienced in Sculptra. Good luck!

Sculptra will stimulate the body’s fibroblasts to produce collagen and will result in volume in the area treated.  The younger the patient is, the more efficiently the body responds.
