I got my MiraDry procedure done on Monday (4/16) and I still have significant swelling and numbness under my arms. I can't really put my arms down because of the swelling. Is this still normal? I've iced the area for about 36 hours but now I'm back to work and can only ice in the evenings. Does icing still make sense? What can I do to reduce the swelling?
Answer: Side effects... I appreciate your question very much.Swelling is normal after this procedure, but you seem to be having a lot more than normal. I suggest you have an exam by your treating doctor.Congratulations and good luck!

Answer: Downtime after Miradry It does take more than 5-6 days for the swelling and discomfort to reduce. You can definitely ice meanwhile. For sensations to be come completely normal, it may easily take weeks to a few months. I use anti inflammatory meds for the first 2-3 days, which does make a difference. But yes, you have to just take it easy for the first week after Miradry.

Answer: Swelling after miraDry treatment... Swelling after miraDry may last for several weeks following the procedure, because your body is still healing and still absorbing the fluid that was injected during the numbing process. After the procedure, we recommend patients ice the area on and off for 1-2 days, and recommend patients take NSAIDs for pain relief, as this will help with inflammation as well. Best of luck with the healing process!

Answer: Swelling after Miradry It has been 5 days since your treatment and you can expect swelling to typically resolve within 2 weeks. Arnica tablets and SwellX twice daily can help reduce the inflammatory response. Continue to ice as you are doing as it can only help. I usually have patients ice for at least 3 days straight after the procedure and longer if necessary. You can use ice packs, frozen water bottles, or bags of frozen peas.

Answer: Pretty typical Miradry is a great procedure for sweat reduction but I disagree with their "no down time" marketing. The first 24 hours are the most painful but there is significant swelling from the tumescent anesthesia and the swelling from destroying sweet glands for days up to weeks following. The numbness can last for weeks but should resolve. Ice beyond 48 hours is unlikely to do much. I recommend starting some movement and light massage of the area now with a gradual return to normal activities.
