Different plastic surgeons will have different opinions about the influence of previous Liposuction with or without Renuvion for someone’s candidacy regarding a full tummy tuck. My personal opinion is that having previous liposuction or anything that creates scar tissue will reduce patient’s skin elasticity, and this will intern reduce the quality or potential from a tummy tuck. Anything that causes scar tissue will reduce elasticity, and this decreases how much skin can be removed successfully during skin, tightening operations like a full tummy tuck. Some plastic surgeons seem to not have any preference or believes that Liposuction reduce patients candidacy for a tummy tuck. In my opinion, patients who are considering both procedures, should generally have the skin tightening procedure before having liposuction because of the above described consequence. There is also different degrees to the impact this can have. Correctly done conservative Liposuction will not create enough scar tissue to have a major consequence on her future tummy tuck. Highly aggressive, liposuction, or secondary treatments such as Renuvion done very aggressively well on the other hand creates substantial amounts of scar tissue that will severely hampered the ability to pull the skin tight. There’s no way to give you an assessment without seeing pictures or having an examination. We can sometimes tell by simply pulling on the skin to see if scar tissue is a reducing elasticity that is present on virgin tissue. Your previous procedure may lessen your candidacy for a quality tummy tuck result. Get a more accurate assessment and better description of what a tummy tuck can, and cannot achieve. I recommend having multiple in person consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons. Surgeons should at least acknowledge the fact that the previous Liposuction with Renuvion could have some impact on the amount of skin that can now be removed successfully. Being oblivious to the fact that these procedures can change candidacy probably indicates some lack of clinical experience. Regardless of your candidacy, choosing the right provider is the most important variable. There isn’t much you can do to change your candidacy at this point since your previous surgery is behind you. Defined the best provider I suggest have you multiple in person consultations. For most patients I recommend starting by having at least five in person, consultations and consider scheduling more if needed. There are substantial differences in plastic surgeons, both in regards to making accurate assessments and delivering quality outcomes. Considering that these are irreversible and permanent changes to your body, patients should put in sufficient effort to find the best providers. You’ve done poorly it is very difficult to improve on the outcome. Having the most accurate assessment, with clear understanding, especially considering potential limitations is important part of the decision making process and could potentially have an impact if you should, or should not have the procedure. During age in a person consultation, ask each provider to open up their portfolio and show you their entire collection of previous. Tell me tuck results of patients who have similar body characteristics to your own. You’re probably not the first patient asking for a tummy tuck, who said previous Liposuction. My first-hand experience with Renuvion was disappointing to the point where I have since abandoned, using the device and sold my equipment. I did not see any significant skin tightening from the use of Renuvion, and none of my patients felt it was of any advantage. The only difference I could tell was that patient had significant more pain during and after the procedure with the use of Renuvion. During each consultation, ask providers to show you a variety of outcomes. Being shown a handful of pre-selected images, representing the best results of their career is insufficient to get a clear understanding of an average results look like in the hands of each provider. An experience provider should have no difficulty showing you at least 50 sets of before, and after pictures of commonly performed procedures like a full tummy tuck. They may not have nearly that many pictures of previous patients who had Liposuction and or Renuvion. Judge tummy tuck results based on who gets the most natural looking belly button with a very low set scar that follows anatomic contours naturally and evenly on both sides leaving the torso looking balanced appropriate and attractive from all angles including from behind. I recommend patient to bring pictures of their own body to use as reference during consultations especially when reviewing before, and after pictures. Take careful notes during each consultation, recognizing it is your responsibility to vet plastic surgeons regarding experience and competence. Quality plastic surgery results are usually based on only two variables. Those are patient candidacy, and provider selection. There is generally not much patient can do about duran candidacy but understanding your candidacy for the procedure helps set expectations correctly and this is an important part of the experience.
