@mimoza1 It is uncommon to still be experiencing lumpiness and soreness this long after having miraDry. How many treatments did you have? Commonly, the swelling and tenderness subsides after a few short days, in some cases up to 4-6 weeks. I recommend you return to your healthcare professional for evaluation. Be well.#miraDry #swellingafter10months #lumps
You may experience someswelling, minor bruising and tenderness of the underarms, which should subsidewithin a couple of weeks. We recommend avoiding strenuous activity requiringyour arms until your symptoms have resolved.Your persistant discomfort should be evaluated by your doctor
Thank you for your question for sharing your experience with us. I would recommend that you visit with a board-certified plastic surgeon who has miraDry in their practice. Although I have never experienced what you are describing with my patients, the lump may be indicative that you have some scar tissue in the vicinity of a sensory nerve. You may want to consider trying a steroid injection if this is the case. If this doesn't work, then surgical excision may be warranted to further help diagnose and treat your concern.
It is very uncommon for someone to have your symptoms that late after treatment. I would speak to your treating physician and see if steroid injections can help break up the scar tissue.
There may be some scar tissue or even some nerve damage that is causing your continued symptoms. I would massage the area and speak to your surgeon. I am one of the leading experts for hyperhidrosis treatment and have not experienced these symptoms in patients to date. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles
Any axillary lump should be evaluated to make sure it isn’t something entirely unrelated, like a swollen lymph node (gland). This would be unrelated to the treatment, but very important to investigate. If the lump (we call it a “nodule”) is indeed a result of the treatment, you’ll have had it probably from the very beginning, or at least 1-2 weeks after the procedure and then noticed it never went away. As long as it’s not painful, we do not recommend intervention. It is very important that you are properly examined.
Thank you for posting your question.I have performed miraDry since 2011 and have written a book about the miraDry procedure. I have never seen a patient who has had pain that far out from the procedure as you describe.Discuss the outcome with the treating physician. Ongoing pain may be related to undue pain DURING the procedure.
Hi, sorry for your troubles. You should definitely consult your treating physician. The local swelling or scarring may get better with massage or ultrasound treatments.Again to make a diagnosis you would need to have the area evaluated.
Yes, there is no contraindication with miraDry and ingrown hair scars. The microwave technology will still penetrate and treat the sweat glands. Hope this helps.
Hi and thank you for your question! We do not treat women who are breastfeeding. Best to wait until you are done. We treat many patients with breast implants without any issues. Feel free to call our office or come in for a complementary consultation. Best, Dr. Grant Stevens
So far, MiraDry has been well studied in the armpit region and it's proven to be safe and effective with a response of 75 to 82% reduction in sweating with one treatment. I am not sure if any physician would be completely comfortable using this "off label" in the buttocks.
