Hello. Great question. Thank you for your pictures. You still have a few more months to go for all the swelling to go down. It may take up to six months for all swelling to subside. Until then we can examine your final results. Keep going to your follow up appointments.
I encourage you to discuss your concerns with your surgeon. You are still in the recovery stage and can expect changes in the future, but your surgeon should be aware of any healing questions you have. Your belly button can be revised if you are still unhappy around 9-12 months after surgery.
Thank you so much for submitting your question. The belly button during and after a tummy tuck is something hotly debated amongst plastic surgeons as if done poorly it may be the only stigmata you have had a tummy tuck. The key to an aesthetically pleasing umbilicus is 1) small in size 2) vertically-oriented in nature3) superior hooding and shadow4) inferior retraction and slope, 5) positioning at the topmost level of the iliac crestIN your case it is challenging to see the fine details of your belly button. At 72 days, you still will have some swelling of your abdominal region and scarring may still be maturing some. That being said, you may be near the final result for your belly button. Revisionary procedures can be quite challenging as well. I would recommend a follow up with your surgeon to see their thoughts and if such a revision is needed. Thank you and best of luck!
Still quite early in your recovery. The photos give no perspective. The size of your belly button/umbilicus cannot be evaluated unless it’s in relation to the rest of your abdomen. Would also be helpful to know what you’re abdomen looked like before surgery so we know what your surgeon was working with.
I would recommend reaching out to your surgeon for direction. He/She is most familiar with the details of your surgery and how you've been progressing through recovery. Your surgeon will let you know if a visit to the ER is indicated.
