Will Cushing’s syndrome striae affect my tummy tuck healing process? (photo)

Question

I had Cushing’s syndrome about 6 months ago and I developed straie on my lower stomach and a little has traveled over my belly button. The only solution I found to get rid of it was a tummy tuck and wondering if wider thinner straie will affect the healing process and possibly cause necrosis? I also I have a little bit traveled to my Nikon line where the incision will be made and I’m worried that it will interfere with the stitches. The straie is thin I could pinch it basically.

it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Generally speaking, your striae should have no negative effect on your results. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.

From your photo most of your striae will be removed from the tummy tuck.  That which isn't removed will be moved lower in position.  It should not impact the healing process as long as your Cushing's Syndrome is now cured or well controlled.  The next step is to visit with a board certified plastic surgeon near you for a consultation.
