Does Bellafill really last for years? Looking for real results/feedback

Results from Bellafill can last for years.  Using Bellafill normally requires several treatment sessions spaced over time to give gradual improvement.  I would not recommend using Bellafill under the eyes however.  The skin is very thin in that area and it is possible to get permanent irregularities from Bellafill.  I think the hyaluronic acid products are much safer to use under the eyes.  You might want to try a longer lasting hyaluronic acid filler.  

Bellafill is an excellent long lasting filler and because it is long lasting, expertise is needed for its proper placement. This is a good question! Bellafill is a filler that is considered semi permanent.  The way that this works is that the collagen in the is dissolved in 3 months and the carrier PMMA remains behind.  Where this filler differs from other fillers is that the PMMA stimulated the fibroblasts in the skin to produce native collagen.  The native collagen is not resorbed.   It has not seen the issues of past collagen products (e.g. granulomas or reactions) like ArteColl or Silicone.  As the other posters have pointed out the filler provides long lasting results.  Speak to a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon for an in person evaluation.

Bellafill does great in the nasolabial areas and under subcised scars but should never be put under the eyes in shallow areas with delicate skin overlying.

I don't recommend Bellafill for the tear trough areas. These fillers (belotero, volbella, restylane silk) are good for under the eye, but keep in mind, a combination approach will give the most improvement. Fillers, lasers, and microneedling/PRP can improve under the eyes. My patients try to get non surgical treatments to avoid surgery. We use PRP and stem cells there often. Bellafill lasts for 5 years and up. I have patients who have been treated 7 years ago and are still thrilled! HAs do not last more than 6 months. Especially for people with high metabolism. That being said, Bellafill is not recommended in the tear troughs unfortunately

The Bellafill 5 year study showed significant satisfaction (>90%) and correction at 5 years. It actually lasts longer (probably indefinitely) but that study was stopped at 5 years. They are actually studying 10 year longevity. The PMMA particles can't be degraded by the body and stimulate a collagen response to their spheres. In the tear trough area, the most complications occur - bumps - than any other area. Using the product deeply, along bone, and with cannulas is the best results. Sterile technique is of utmost importance. I will typically place Bellafill in the upper check and some in the tear trough but do fine tuning with an HA filler such as Restylane. Other considerations are fat or nanofat.

Bellafill has been shown in the FDA study to last five years as evidenced by the fact that 82% of patients were satisfied to highly satisfied with the results five years after initial injection.  In fact, Bellafill has been studied in more patients than any injectable filler on the US market.  As far as your question about whether Bellafill will still look just as good several years out, it is important to understand that while the Bellafill, itself, is known to last five years, no filler halts the aging process.  You will continue to age with or without Bellafill. So while you can expect  Bellafill to remain in your face 2 years after injection, whether or not you will look just as good 2 years after injection depends on how much you age. How fast you age in 2 years really has to do with your genetics and is unrelated to the type of filler chosen. 

Bellafill has been extensively studied and is FDA approved(requiring the most rigorous studies) to last 5 years. In my experience the effects of Bellafill last even longer than 5 years, as it continues to stimulate collagen growth in a natural way over time. Bellafill is made from different substances than the hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane, with a percentage of the product being left in the area injected(PMMA particles) even after the the part providing volume goes away(collagen). These PMMA particles continue to stimulate collagen growth over time. 
There are advantages and disadvantages to all available fillers, and it is important to have an experienced and thoughtful injector especially when considering a longer lasting filler. The area under the eye is particularly tricky due to the thin skin, the shape of the surrounding muscle, and the lymphatic drainage in this area. Only the most expert injectors are qualified to perform the injection of Bellafill in this area. The hyaluronic acid fillers don't last as long, but on the other hand they are dissolvable instantly or go away over time which is an advantage if the results are not what you expected.

This is a very good question because so many people I talk to have the same question.  The makers of Bellafill, Suneva Medical, are quick to tell you that Bellafill is not permanent and that the it lasts 5 years.  However, they are bound by the FDA to say this.  The 5 year study showed absolutely no volume loss of the Bellafill that was injected in over 1000 patients, at the end of the study.  I have seen patients at 10 years after their original Bellafill injection and they are still looking great although they have aged a little more and often want a touch up.
Bellafill, in my practice, is perfect for under the eyes.  It is, in fact, so good for under the eyes that I have all but abandoned surgery for the lower eyelids since lower eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty has so many problems compared to Bellafill.  There are many surgeons that shy away from Bellafill in the lower lid but with the right technique it is by far the best alternative for treating the volume loss of the lower lids, tear troughs or lower eyelid bags that I know of.
