Since Cellfina is performed under local anesthesia, flying is not a concern. Patients will leak fluid from the procedure for 1-3 days afterwards so that should be taken into account when traveling.
Any #soreness, tenderness, or bruising will #resolve within a week. Patients can return to activities of daily living, to high-impact aerobic activity and may wear any clothing. Results can be seen in as little as three days post-op. After the Cellfina™ cellulite treatment, patients can go about their day, but may want to take it easy for up to 24 hours. There have been no serious adverse events associated with our treatments such as Cellfina™. The most common side effects reported by patients in the FDA-approved pivotal study were #soreness and #bruising. Over 90% of patients had no bruising at four weeks after the cellulite procedure. Cellfina is an FDA approved minimally invasive procedure that reduces the appearance of cellulite for at least two years on the buttocks and back of the thighs of women. It works by releasing the internal bands that cause the cellulite dimpling and so we have not seen any fat atrophy. You should not see much of a difference with weight gain or loss but this also has not been studied.Other areas of the body with dimpling, it is important to make sure it is truly cellulite before treatment. It is common to have swelling bruising and firmness after the procedure. This can last for a few weeks. It is different than Cellulaze which is a laser. If you have had previous poor results with cellulaze, you can still do Cellfina.Cellfina has shown 100% noticeable improvement and 96% satisfaction in all patients at 2 years. Cellfina is designed to be a one time procedure. It can be used on women with all skin types but caution should be taken if theres a history of keloiding. It can also be combined with other treatments such as Thermi orUlthera if skin tightening is needed. We have done Sculpsure and Coolsculpting if fat reduction is wanted, but its best to wait 3 months to see the results before proceeding. It can also be done at the same time as other procedures such as liposuction and BBL or as a stand alone procedure in the office.Since Cellfina outcomes can be based on technique and experience, please see a board certified plastic surgeon that specializes body contouring to see if Cellfina or other treatments are available to meet your goals. Hello and thank-you for your question!Cellfina is the latest break though for the treatment of cellulite. The treatment targets the fibrous bands which are the source of the dimpling in cellulite. It is most effective for the treatment of deep dimples and depressions of the buttocks and back of the thighs. it is less effective in the treatment of generalized waviness. Cellfina is a minimally invasive treatment performed in the office. We are seeing an extremely high level of satisfaction for our patients treated with Cellfina. The investigational studies for Cellfina have just been released and have shown an impressive patient satisfaction rate of 85% at 3 months, 94% at one year and 96% at 2 years. This is a very exciting solution for the many women who suffer from the embarrassment of cellulite. Our patients report some drainage for 24 hour and soreness for 2-3 days. You may want to give it 2-3 days before your flight. I would recommend a consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in your area.Best regards, Andrew Lyos MD, FACS
It is not a matter of whether you can fly home or not... you should consider possible bruising after the procedure that you may not want right before vacation. The Cellfina procedure isa minimally invasive one that numbs the area around the dimple on your buttocksor thighs, and then treats the connective bands woven throughout the fat thatpull down the skin, creating dimpling seen on the skin’s surface. The Cellfinacellulite procedure works by precisely treating these tethered bands, causingthem to fully release. Similar to a rubberband under tension, once released, the treated skin bounces back to smooth itself out in as little as three days.Weight gain or weight lossshould not affect the outcomes and the results have been seen for over 2 years(if not more). It is truly a reallyexciting new technology that most women can benefit from.
CellFina treatment and follow-up is very straight-forward with very minimal complications, however there is some pretty significant drainage the first 24-48 hours. We would recommend you not travel until about the 3rd day after treatment. For instance for patients out of town we perform many of these procedures on a Friday allowing you to recover over the weekend. We can see you either Sunday or Monday am and you can travel back home at that time. Pain is minimal with little down time except for the drainiage and some bruising. All my Best!Dr Bengtson
Cellulite has been treated effectively by Cellfina and ThermiTight leaving a minimum of one year duration of effectiveness with Cellfina and more with ThermiTight (as the latter has been on the market longer). After Cellfina, or any invasive procedure (Cellfina can be considered minimally invasive) complications are of low risk, but exist. Infection, although rare, if occurs, may only happen more than a week after the procedure, so you should be willing to return to the treating physician for follow-up appointments. That is the concern when doing an elective cosmetic treatment not in your home town. Bruising and swelling can last for more than two weeks but doesn't mean that you can't fly a couple of days after the procedure. Swelling might be more dramatic after returning home because of the flight. That should diminish over several days. If you are wearing a compression garment, it's important, that it not be too tight at the seams, especially in flight when swelling can occur.Every patient needs to ask their doctors who will be performing their procedure this type of question. The information provided in Dr. Shelton'sanswer is for educational purposes only and is not intendedto constitute medical advice. We usually like to have our patients near for the first few days after any procedure to make sure there is no adverse reaction or events. And if there is we can help the patient. No all of these are depends on how invasive the procedure is. Cellfina is minimally invasive and I believe it is not so crucial to stay for one week to10 days. but two or three days is advisable.
Cellfina before a plane flight is inherently safe, although I would recommend not taking a flight the same day. A good fluid volume of anesthesia is used during the Cellfina procedure, so patients will have a good amount of fluid leaking from the treatment sites during the first few days after the procedure. This requires the use of absorbent bandages and compression garments after the procedure. Also, there is usually a good amount of soreness and bruising after the procedure, which may make a plane flight less comfortable. Optimally I would recommend not taking a flight within 5-7 days after the procedure, although this based more on issues of comfort.
Thank you for your question. While there is no explicit reason why you couldn't fly after your Cellfina procedure, you will typically be leaking lots of fluid for the first 24-48 hours after the procedure. Additionally, most physicians care very much about their patients and thus requests a followup a few days after the procedure and then again a month later and one final visit 6 months later. With technology you can easily do the month and 6 month follow up via telemedicine. However I would suggest you stay around for the first 3-4 days after Cellfina to make sure you have no issues and complete the first follow up. Regards, Dr. Matt Elias
Cellfina is the newest, most effective FDA approved technology available for treating cellulite. This one-time, minimally invasive procedure takes only 45 minutes to perform, but the results last for a minimum of two years. #Cellfina has the longest lasting results of any current #cellulite...
See a doctor that does both treatments because they do different things. Cellfina is best for deep dimples. Cellulaze is better for treating large areas of cottage cheese cellulite and wavey cellulite that comes from loose skin.
We have seen great results with cellfina for both the front and the back of thighs. We have also seen great results in the buttocks area. It would be best to discuss the areas of concern with your surgeon so they can let you know if cellfina is right for you.
