Scars from facelift incisions generally healwell over time if the surgery was done by a skilled, board-certified facialplastic surgeon. Talk to your surgeon about scar management and care; there aretopical gels that can be used to help diminish the appearance of scars. Thebest thing to do is to follow your surgeon’s advice and be patient; scars maylook prominent now, but over time they should fade.
Rest assured, that the scars will look much better with time after your facelift. At the two week mark, you are still very early out from the procedure and I would not be overly concerned!
Thanks for submitting yourquestion. The pleating that is visible will almost certainly resolve with time.Leaving stitches in for 2 weeks can cause stitch marks that may not completelyresolve, but they will certainly improve a great deal with time and probablyneed no further attention. I would rely on your surgeon's experience with thetechnique and be patient. At 2 weeks, the visible pleating is normal. Good luckto you.
Thank you for your question. Its still way to early to see how your scars will mature and when the stitch marks will completely disappear. They will definitely fade and improve with time. Scar massage and avoiding the sun will help with scar maturation. All the best,
Hi salamanca. Concerns about scars areunderstandable. However, it is common this early in the recovery to see some rednessand the "bunched" look where your surgeon made an incision. Scarsfade during the first year following a facelift and in most cases are almostinvisible when hidden in the hairline. There are topical creams that helpincisions heal and leave less of a scar. I would ask your plastic surgeon aboutany therapeutic products he or she recommends. Good luck.
Yes, most certainly, fresh scars mature over the first year, smoothing out and becoming less red in the majority. Best Scar Management is important to minimize or completely hide from view, the telltale signs of your surgery—namely, scars. Both you and your surgeon want you to have the most minimal scarring possible. There are many possible causes for scars that are enlarged or not healing well. Unsightly scars are most commonly due to genetics, underlying medical conditions, or improper scar/wound care. The last part is very important and patients can make a noticeable difference in their scars’ appearance by following best scar management practices. Thank you for a great question and for sharing your photos and experience. Typically the redness or marks from sutures will improve over time, so try not to worry. In my practice, I will have patients start using a scar gel around this time, so you may want to discuss that with your surgeon. I hope this is helpful."This answer has been solicited without seeing this patient and cannot be held as true medical advice, but only opinion. Seek in-person treatment with a trained medical professional for appropriate care."
The slight redness or marks from the sutures will diminish with time. In my practice, I recommend a gentle cleanser and daily use of a silicone gel based scar preparation. SPF 50 should be applied as well to any areas that will be exposed to the sun.
Thanks for sharing. Your procedure is very recent and will improve with time. There is still swelling seen here and the incision will lay flatter and smoother. Make sure to follow up with your surgeon around 1 month for him to evaluate you again.
Thank you for your question. From the picture, it looks like you have some pleating at the hairline, and this will resolve with time. Similarly, marks from stitches typically do fade with time. I would continue to follow with your plastic surgeon closely, as they will continue to provide recommendations to make the incision look great. Best of luck!
It's hard to envision your situation without photos. If you are young liposuction of the cheeks and neck can be beneficial. If you are over 45 you may need a facelift.
