How do I know what the lasting result will be after Juvederm in lips?

People respond differently to lip fillers and the same patient may experience different results in terms of swelling, firmness, lumpiness and bruising at different treatment sessions.Usually I find Juvederm to feel softer than some other fillers,  but some firmness takes a while longer to soften after any filler especially if there is a bruise in the plane of injection under the surface that can't be seen. Sometimes  there can be firmness for more than 2-4 weeks. It’s safe to say that on the average patient, you’re swollen at 4 days. Once you get to 3 weeks after the injection then you can evaluate your size as the vast majority of the swelling should be gone by then! Good luck. Dr. Aldo

Hello,Thank you for your question.Swelling after lip injections is very common due to the vascularity of the lips. Swelling and bruising can take up to 2 weeks to fully resolve. Mild tenderness with pursing and firmness is typically within normal limits 4 days after lip filler and likely you still have some swelling present. Most patients should notice slight volume reduction as swelling resolves and the product will continue to soften. I encourage you to allow 2 weeks for full healing and if there are still concerns at that time, follow up with your injector.Hope this helps!

It will take 1-2 weeks for final results with fillers.the swelling and tenderness will gradually resolve, but I would wait a full 2 weeks before judging results. I hope this helps.

It is too soon after your treatment to determine what your final results will be as it is common to have some swelling after HA filler for lip augmentation which can take up to 2 weeks to resolve. You can help reduce some swelling by applying cold compresses to the treated area. It is also advisable to avoid any NSAID’s as they tend to thin the blood and increase bruising and swelling. Thank you for your question.  Swelling is normal after treatment with Juvederm, especially when the lips are injected.  Swelling can often cause the appearance of asymmetry or unwanted fullness.  Please keep in mind that it will take 2 weeks to allow normal postprocedure swelling to fully resolve and to see your final result.  Icing the area is helpful for up to 48 hours after the procedure.  Arnica may also help to minimize normal postprocedure swelling and bruising.  If you continue to have concerns, please be sure to see your injector for an in-person reevaluation in order to determine the best course of action.  Hope this helps and best wishes! 

Every plastic surgeon who augments the lips in patients does it slightly differently. In my patients they see the final outcome of the treatment after 4 days but in many other patients it make take up to 2 weeks for the swelling to fully come down. I would wait another 10 days and I'm sure that you will be happy at that point in time. If anything other than that, talk to your treating physician. Good luck from New York City

Hello and thanks for the question! It takes up to 2 weeks for the swelling to settle from lip fillers. Most individuals feel the same as you describe. Thank you for your question. Swelling in the lips can last up to 2 weeks after injection. As the swelling and bruising subsides, the lips will feel softer and less tender. I encourage you to remain patient and not judge any final result for 2 weeks. Then follow up woth your injector at that point if you have any concerns.

I would wait 2 weeks before assessing the result of the filler since there may still be swelling at this point. If after 2 weeks, you still feel that there is too much filler then you can consider dissolving some at that time.
