I had a consultation and was told I would have to have a two stage procedure that I am not interested in. I was also told by another Dr. in California that he would be able to do the procedure with only one stage. This sounds amazing but is it too good to be true? He has very good reviews on all of his surgeries in the past but I am terrified of the hairline looking unnatural and the scar stretching because my scalp is so tight.

Answer: Is Forehead Reduction Safe/ Worth It? Forehead reduction is safe when done by an experienced surgeon. Whether or not it is worth it depends primarily your goals and the tightness of your scalp which will limit what can be achieved with a one stage procedure. You have a relatively high hairline; be very clear about reasonable expectations before making a decision.

Answer: Forehead reduction safety. If there is good hair in the front of your scalp with the proper growth direction and you have good scalp laxity, a one stage hairline lowering /forehead reduction operation is a safe one. The scar almost never becomes wide however if the hair direction grows the wrong way, such as with a cowlick, the scar may be visible. You need to be evaluated in person to see if indeed you are a candidate for this operation. Based on your two pictures it seems you do not need a great deal of reduction and you have good hair to work with. The natural looking hairline is a factor of the design made by the surgeon and along with your inherent scalp characteristics.
