For the BBL procedure is it required to remove all body jewelry?

Thanks for your question. It is best to remove all jewelry in order to avoid an infection. That said, you definitely have to choose your surgeon correctly and make sure that he/she has the training and experience to meet your goals with absolute safety.  Best is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with specialized expertise in this procedure.

I would ask your surgeon and anesthesiologist about this as there are several factors to consider here. 

If you're only having a BBL procedure without any energy source such as cautery or J plasma, the jewelry can remain in place. If energy sources are going to be used I recommend removing them and replacing them before you are awakened from anesthesia.#StayBeautiful #RealDrWorldWide

I usually advise patients that if they are concerned or it is a newer piercing, use a plastic spacer to preserve the path and replace as needed after surgery. Although it is not necessary to remove metal objects for a liposuccion and fat injection since there is no need of the use an electrocautery machine still since the patient is getting into surgery ideally all piercings should go out.

Hello, thank you for your question.If your body jewelry is in the operative field, generally you are required to remove it as these are not sterile and can be a risk for infection.If they are outside your operative field and difficult to remove, it may be possible to tape around the jewelry to prevent it from conducting heat or from getting in the way. metal rings are generally removed in surgery, when electrocautery is used, for the risk of burns, any removable ring is preferably removed for the risk of harboring bacteria. For the surgery you are having your surgeon can give you directions in what to do depending on their protocols
