When I was researching about this procedure I couldn't find a ton of info so I hope this can help some of you out there. My info: 26 yrs old, 5'5, 115 lbs, bottom heavy Reasons I wanted this surgery: (1) breast asymmetry - I had a small A cup on my right breast and a full B cup on my left breast. It's something I think about every time I look myself in the mirror. (2) I didn't want implants. I don't want to have to go under the knife again years from now and I'm only 26, which means I might need to go under the knife many more times. (3) I wanted inner thighs fat gone for a long time now and no matter what workout I do. I have gotten the surgery with Dr Karen Leong yesterday 4/8/201. I'll post pre surgery photos and post op photos in my next updates. Pain level: I can probably work if I wanted to the same day (computer work). Standing up is much more comfortable than sitting and laying down. When you lay down it's best to be at a 45 degree angle, I didn't do that last like and I feel like my back is swollen. Post op garment is the most uncomfortable thing ever!!! I'm also so tiny even the smallest size won't hug me so I got a lululemon bike short 10" long super high waist in size 0 (normally I wear a 4) to see if it'd feel better. Dr Leong also said that's a good idea. And I'll add a not too light waist trainer to support my back.
Breast Implant Removal with Dr Karen Leong at Face N Body Upland: I had my breast implants removed one month ago by Dr Karen Leong. I was recommended by a coworker who had the same procedure done earlier this year with great results. My experience was AMAZING from my first consultation visit through the entire process. The staff at the front desk Amanda, Audrey, and Lisa are very welcoming, sweet, and knowledgeable about any questions you may have. Dr Leong is personable, attentive, and thorough which I think sometimes doctors lack at the beside, but not her! She is willing to answer any and all questions without hesitation. If you are looking into breast implants removal because of "breast implant illness/BII" she is open minded about the new research coming out. I am a nurse myself, so I have been intrigued by so many women's symptoms but awaiting clear researched backed evidence. She takes a similar stance, and overall if you are worried and want them out she will help you without judgment or making you feel like it's "in your head". That being said I was not sick, but had some vague symptoms, capsular contracture, and after 16 years I wanted them removed, not replaced, and without a lift. She heard all of my concerns and was supportive and up to the task. Surgery day was a success! Nurse Monique, the OR team (didn't get their names because I was so nervous and then asleep) and the anesthesiologist Dr Melisa Erick were all beyond good to me, and I am so thankful for their expertise and calming demeanors. Follow-up the day after surgery and throughout recovery I felt closely monitored and cared for. Suture and drain removal were done by nurse Monique and Jennifer and they were caring, professional, skillful, and personable. Overall I really could not be more pleased with my care and results. Dr Leong is a very meticulous surgeon and she was able to remove my entire capsules and provide photos of the capsules and implants which I requested. My results are fantastic and my new (old) breasts look amazing. As I mentioned, I am a nurse, I know many doctors and I can assure you she is top notch! This whole process has been a pleasure and I am so thankful to each and every person at Face N Body who helped me through my journey. You will not be disappointed in your care or procedure if you choose Dr Leong and her staff. Side note: My implants were done in 2003 by a prominent Beverly Hills surgeon who has since passed. I had a consultation in Beverly Hills for removal first since that's what I knew, but I received better care at Face N Body without the drive, inflated cost, and attitude that sometimes comes with the 90210 zip code. Trust me, location does not equal better care. Good Luck on your journey
This procedure was quick and easy. The recovery was fast and relatively pain free, I healed faster than expected. My surgery has made my everyday life and overall self confidence so much better. Dr. Leong and her staff made me feel confident and comfortable. Best decision I’ve ever made.
I’ve done every injectable from Botox to Sculptra and I wanted a more permanent fix to my aging face and neck. I had heard about Dr. Leong through a friend and I decided to make a consultation. When I met Dr. Leong I had my doubts about what this seemingly young doc could do for my 70+ year old face. How could she know what a woman my age needed? As we began to discuss my areas of concern, all doubts were extinguished. From start to finish I experienced nothing but top notch care from Dr. Leong and her patient coordinator, Melia. They thoroughly prepped me for the entire process and made sure I was comfortable with every step. Even after the procedure I was surprised to open up my post-op kit with a hand-written thank you note from the surgeon herself, thanking me for the opportunity to have worked on me. They prepared me for post-procedure discomfort and bruising but, I kid you not, my pain was minimal and the worst was over in less than 48 hours. I believe this was aided by the healing light they put me under several times post-surgery (which was included in my procedure fee). I didn’t even use my pain meds, only Tylenol. By the way, my face and neck look fabulous. No more turtlenecks or scarves for this kind of artistry. When my daughter teaches me how to upload photos of my face and neck, pre- and post-surgery, I’ll be sure to share Dr. L’s amazing work. I literally look like she shaved 2 decades off of me. I’m certainly not overdone, just a better version of myself. Thank you, Dr. L and Melia!
I have seen Dr. Leong for both medical and cosmetic visits. Her personality is very down to earth but precise which made me feel very comfortable going to her for multiple issues. I first saw Dr. Leong for a few minor skin tags, moles and cherry angiomas that were all over my body which I didn't like esthetically. She removed them with simplicity, quickness and I felt absolutely no pain. She took the time to tell me what she was doing as well as informed me what to expect after it was all done. I then saw her for laser hair removal for about 3 different areas. She explained how many treatments I could expect and realistic results I would see. It was my first time doing anything cosmetically and in all honesty I didn't feel comfortable going at first, but again, Dr. Leong made it no big deal and took care of things professionally with friendly demeanor. I will continue being treated by Dr. Leong as I am a fully satisfied patient. Thank Your Dr. Leong
A year ago, I had the pleasure of consulting with Dr. Karen Leong for a minor lip asymmetry correction and augmentation. Always the professional, she listened to my concerns and clearly explained my options to get the results I was looking for. Dr. Leong made me feel completely comfortable and injected my lips to my complete satisfaction. Completely natural looking, and symmetrical. A year later, I had made the unfortunate, impulsive decision to have lip filler done at a “Botox party”, by a MD who is not specialized in the field of aesthetics. Big mistake. The result was embarrassing to say the least. Too much filler was used (a full syringe in both upper and lower lip), in addition to the incorrect placement of the filler. After almost two weeks with asymmetrical, lumpy, and obviously injected lips, I made an appointment with Dr. Karen Leong to fix my lumpy lips. Thankfully, Dr. Leong was able to see me right away and I am so grateful for her expertise and professionalism. She listened patiently with genuine interest and non-judgment, as I explained what had happened (getting a procedure done when I absolutely should not have, for multiple reasons). She reassured me my lips could be fixed and explained that the filler in the upper lip would need to be reversed and only a couple of areas to the lower lip needed to be reversed, in order to maintain a full shape. Dr. Leong is incredibly knowledgeable with a keen eye for symmetry and aesthetics. After applying numbing ointment, she injected a reversal agent to break down the filler and “re-shape” my lips. Within a few hours my lips looked natural and symmetrical again. When I decide to augment my lips again, Dr. Karen Leong is the doctor for me. She has the skill and experience to create natural-looking, fuller lips that fit the proportions of your face and desired outcome.
Hands down, Dr. Leong is the best. When I made my consultation appointment with her a few months ago, I couldn’t have known the prize I was about to find in her. My experience with Dr. Leong shows her to be an artist who takes pride in her craft. She is a highly-skilled, warm-hearted professional who made my care and comfort her priority from Day 1. Her relaxed manner made me feel at home straightaway. In the days both before and after my neck and lower facelift as well as other refinements, I was supported by a team utterly devoted to me. The results of my surgery? Simply put, I am thrilled and can therefore genuinely offer my unqualified recommendation to the incomparable Dr. Leong.
Dr. Leong and team are compassionate, considerate, and professional. I was in search of a surgeon to exchange my breast implants and she came highly recommended to me by a girlfriend. Within a few minutes of speaking with Dr. Leong and her coordinator during my consultation, I knew I was in the right place. She has an amazing energy about it and it is easy to see that she is passionate about surgery. I felt at ease thanks to the amount of time Dr. Leong spent educating and preparing me. She reviewed different surgical options and discussed implant types to help me achieve my goals. My breasts were asymmetrical prior to having my first set of implants put in, and after my initial breast augmentation, they were still uneven. Dr. Leong set realistic expectations for me prior to the procedure as she said she wanted to make sure we were both on the same page regarding outcomes! On the morning of surgery, she made me feel relaxed and her calming bedside manner gave me reassurance that I was in good hands. The procedure went well, post-operative pain was minimal, and at my 24-hour post-op appointment, I was completely blown away. I was beyond excited with how my breasts looked and how even they were in size and shape. I switched from saline to silicone implants and this was the best decision ever! I love the way my new implants look and feel as they are so much more natural. I am a few months out from surgery and have never been happier with my breasts. My overall experience was phenomenal and the results are better than I had ever expected. Dr. Leong definitely delivered and I can say that she is both a skilled surgeon and an artist!
Very young, could use more real world experience. My sister came to visit and asked me why I chose not to get the upper blepharoplasty. This was 8 months after Dr. Leong performed the procedure. Due to Covid, I returned for a reevaluation as soon as I was vaccinated, as I live with a very high risk individual. This was exactly 12 months from the initial procedure. When she saw me she said she “could do more”, and that I would be charged a small facility fee. I was emailed a quote of ~$1000 facility fee (which was fine), but then she added an additional 50% of the original surgery fee. She eventually reluctantly reduced it to 25% of her original surgery fee saying I was outside of the 6 months for her to do a complimentary revision. I tried to explain we were in the midst of a national pandemic (I had the procedure the Friday before the nation was shut down). I felt she was a bit obnoxious. I am a dentist and would never charge someone to fix a purely esthetic dental procedure if they were unhappy with the results. A good esthetic doctor must take pride in their work over small monetary gains. Each patient is a walking advertisement of their skills. I was turned off by the attitude I received and decided not to return because I was uncomfortable. I look in the mirror and feel disappointed and sad I wasted a lot of money on a procedure that was not executed to the best of her ability and is virtually undetectable by myself and my family. I am 46 years old, it seemed like it should have been a slam dunk straight forward procedure.
Hello, thank you for your question. Anatomically, the legs are separated from the trunk by the inguinal ligaments and transition of fascia so a tummy tuck will not "lift" your thighs. Sometimes you get a little improvement to the front of the thighs and the mons with a low incision because you are suturing together a gap in tissue and there is some advancement of the skin of the thighs. But this will not give you the appearance you are describing when you pull up with your hands. - Dr. Leong
Hello, congratulations on your lifestyle changes and going after your goals! I love it when my patients are proactive about their health and their bodies. Without a doubt it is frustrating to put all that hard work in and still be left with extra skin and stubborn areas of fat! And of course, the first place to lose fat is the buttocks! You are a good candidate for liposculpting but I suspect you would need a tummy tuck once you have reached your target weight. Have you had children? Whether we can achieve the hourglass figure you desire depends on a number of factors which are best determined during consultation. Some people just are not built anatomically to have a shape like that, but others can.If you are about 40lbs from your goal, you should start seeing your consultations now. I typically will do my mommy makeovers/BBL when you are within 20lbs of your goals because sometimes having the surgery will help you lose those last few pounds if you plateau and at that range, you will not have significant changes in skin laxity or fat distribution.Make sure to consult with board certified plastic surgeons who have good reputations for BBL, although these seem like easy operations, they have the highest risk of complication of any surgeries we perform! I hope this helps! - Dr. Leong
Hello, thank you for your question. Tuberous breast deformity is a structural issue that can be graded in severity from mild to severe. Commonly we see restricted lower poles with insufficient glandulae tissue and skin (high inframmary crease), pseudoherniated nipple areolar complexes, and narrow breast diameter. This is an issue that becomes apparent during puberty.Glandular breast tissue is very hormone responsive and this is most clearly appreciated during pregnancy and lactation. However, if you are starting off with an insufficient amount of glandular tissue, hormone replacement will not result in more tissue formation. To date, the only effective way to treat tuberous breasts (if it bothers you) is surgically - either with an implant and/or fat transfer. I hope this helps. - Dr. Leong
I'm sorry to hear that you are unhappy with your BBL results. A revision would serve to improve the balance of your body and restore a more natural appearance to your buttocks and hips.I see from your photos that there are areas that need to be more sculpted especially around the waist and tailbone to give the buttocks more of a heart shape and to trim your tummy. The outer thighs could also be contoured to balance your hips and thighs. The fat from these areas I would then use to correct your posterior thighs so that the transition between thighs and buttocks is not so abrupt and so that the buttocks have a more lifted appearance.Revisions are more difficult because now you have scar tissue in the areas that were already lipo'd and also where the fat was injected. I try to use fat equalization as much as possible to prevent lumps bumps and dents but when it's a revision it may need to be staged in order to correct these issues. I never promise my patients a perfect result because we cannot predict how the body heals and accepts the fat transfer, even in the best of circumstances with the best of effort.Of course, this is all based on 2 views of your body. Preoperative photos would be helpful and you should always be seen in person for a complete evaluation. - Dr. Leong
Hello, thank you for your question. I hope your mom is recovering well from her procedure. For an outpatient, same day surgery, the American Society of Plastic Surgery guidelines recommend no more than 5 liters be removed in one session of liposuction for safety reasons. Depending on how deflated your buttocks are, your surgeon will determine approximately how much fat he/she would like to transfer. Usually the fat is purified in some fashion - I normally decant my fat to remove extra fluid and wash it with antibiotics, then transfer it back in using my power assisted cannula system to keep the fat in as sterile an environment as possible. I find that 5L of fat removed gives me between 2-3L of purified fat to inject back in. Most of my patients do not need more than 1L per buttock to achieve their desired look. I tell my patients that the liposculpting is the most important part of the procedure and the fat transfer is the icing on the cake. - Dr. Leong
