Does throwing up alter rhinoplasty results?

Question

Hi. I felt sick and threw up at one point 8 weeks post rhinoplasty and again the other day (I am 10 weeks and few days now post rhinoplasty) and I would just like to ask if that could in any way ruin or alter the surgery results? It wasn't violent vomiting, just an irritation and I made sure I was hydrated afterwards. Thank you in advance for your help.

Thank you for your question. At how far you are out from your surgery, it is unlikely that vigorous exertion will have significantly affected your surgical results, unless you hit your nose or feel like you noticed immediate changes to your nose after such as bruising or swelling (as if you broke a blood vessel). If you notice any new changes in your nose after these vomiting episodes, I recommend you seek re-evaluation with your surgeon who can perform a thorough examination and discuss with you management options to address any issues. I would also consider seeking medical evaluation if you continue to have vomiting episodes for unknown reasons.

An event of non-violent vomiting 8 weeks after a rhinoplasty is not likely to alter your final rhinoplasty results. Thanks for your question. I don't think that vomiting will cause any change to your surgical result. If you feel like you may have injured your nose in some way you should contact your operating surgeon to ensure that your recovery is going as smooth as anticipated. Take care.

I doubt that an episode of vomiting would have a long term effect on the results of your rhinoplasty surgery.    I do recommend that you see your surgeon if you have noticed any changes or if you continue to have these episodes.
