Hello,Thank you for this great question. Although some physicians may feel comfortable to perform this treatment on an individual 18 or older, there is no minimum age or limit. Individuals between 24-45 are the most likely to experience deposition to genetic and patterned hair loss. It is recommended that you discuss this treatment thoroughly with your physician to find out if this course of treatment is best for you.
PRP treatment can be applied to all age groups and genders. It is not applied to cancer patients with low platelet count. PRP is applied 3-4 sessions every 2 weeks. It can be repeated every 10-12 months. The application session takes approximately 30 minutes.
The research performed and the anecdotal evidence would suggest that thickness of hair and density can improve with PRP injections. The number of sessions as well as the quality of PRP obtained will vary considerably physician to physician. The average age of the patients I treat are in their 30s; I am not aware that there is a minimum age to take PRP injections.
I have never seen any data that determines a minimum age for PRP to help hair loss. I would do a PRP treatment on a patient 18 years or older if I thought they were a good candidate and had realistic expectations as to what the PRP might do for them.
Hi Forceful360392Patients who desire hair restoration or have deep wrinkles, droopy skin, volume loss, and uneven skin tone are usually the best candidates for PRP therapy. For more information about this procedure, please visit our website.
Well, there really is none though I have not treated a minor for hair loss. It is your tissue being used within you for hair growth so it can only help. That said, your reasons for losing hair at a young age should be investigated by a hair restoration specialist. I personally prefer using PRFM (platelet-rich fibrin matrix) at my practice instead of PRP (platelet-rich plasma). We would take your blood and spin it down into PRFM which has more rejuvenative ability than PRP by itself.
In our clinic, we would not treat anyone under the age of 18. Someone under the age of 21 would need parental approval for the procedure.
Great question. I really don't have a minimum age for the PRP treatment for hair loss. The most important is to have the correct hair loss diagnostic then the best medical treatment (s). I will recommend to book a consultation for a detailed scalp and general evaluation by a local and experienced hair loss specialist in your town. Good luck.
There is no minimum age for using PRP to treat hair loss. There have not been studies for using PRP for hair loss in children so I suppose the minimum age would be teenage years when one would be considered an adult.
