Hi guys I’m freaking out a bit. I go into surgery this week and at my pre op my doc said he won’t be bandaging the top of my breasts after the surgery. That they stopped doing that. He’s a very reputable surgeon with quad A certs? Or something so I don’t want to overthink this. Did anyone else not use bandages?

Answer: Breast augmentation Hello and thank you for the question. It's not a requirement to bandage your breasts after breast augmentation. Every plastic surgeon has their own way of dressing the incision, etc. I typically use skin adhesive to cover the incision and wrap the chest/breasts with a bulky dressing, however, this is just my preference. It sounds like that your surgeon is well qualified. You should trust your surgeon. Best,Pejman Aflaki, M.D.Johns Hopkins-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: The religion of how to dress a breast implant patient after surgery. Greetings, When you hear that competent plastic surgeons doing breast enlargements sometimes use dressings and sometimes don't, the real message is that either way is acceptable care. The important factor is that your doctor examines you after surgery in the office and proceeds with supplemental care as necessary. In our practice we just cover the incisions with a butterfly tape (1" Episeal) on each side. For comfort after the surgery, our patients can use a loose fitting sports bra during the days after surgery, when there is post-surgical swelling. Check with your doctor before your operation, if you have ongoing concerns about any part of your after-surgery care. Best regards,
