In 3 weeks I'll have my breast surgery.I was informed about my narrow chest which is limiting to go for visibly bigger size, the doctor mentioned something about the high profile but suggested me to not go for it because of 'fake' look.I'd really like them to be much bigger, did my own research, found ladies with small breast and narrow chest, they were suggested to go for high or ultra high profile +, results were absolutely stunning. What should I go for? My measurements are 10.8cm wide. Thanks!
Answer: Implants for a narrow chest Hi there, thanks for your post. Having a narrow chest or breast base width is quite common amongst patients interested in breast augmentation. Increasing the projection (i.e. high or ultra high profile) is the only way to increase volume as the breast implant needs to fit within the base of the breast for the best outcome. The degree of projection for high profile implants varies from one manufacturer to the next but with an appropriate surgical plan can look perky yet natural. Ultra high profile implants tend to look more round at the top and therefore 'fake'. Good luck!

Answer: Narrow chest - which breast implants? I think that you have a good understanding: patients with relatively narrow chest walls (who want to achieve a significant increase in breast size with breast augmentation surgery) tend to benefit from the use of high or ultra high profile breast implants. My best advice: more communication. It is definitely worth spending more time (prior to the date of surgery) with your plastic surgeon to discuss further. As you know, it will be important for many reasons, that you feel comfortable that you and your plastic surgeon are on the "same page" prior to proceeding. Ultimately, careful communication of your goals (in my practice I prefer the use of goal pictures, direct examination/communication in front of a full-length mirror, in bra sizers, and computer imaging) as well as careful measurements (dimensional planning) will be critical. Generally speaking, the best online advice I can give to ladies who are considering breast augmentation surgery ( regarding breast implant size/profile selection) is: 1. Concentrate on choosing your plastic surgeon carefully. Concentrate on appropriate training, certification, and the ability of the plastic surgeon to achieve the results you are looking for. Ask to see lots of examples of his/her work. 2. Have a full discussion and communication regarding your desired goals with your plastic surgeon. This communication will be critical in determining breast implant size/type/profile will most likely help achieve your goals. In my practice, the use of photographs of “goal” pictures (and breasts that are too big or too small) is very helpful. For example, I have found that the use of words such as “natural or fake look” or "C or D cup” etc means different things to different people and therefore prove unhelpful. Also, as you know, cup size varies depending on him who makes the bra; therefore, discussing desired cup size may also be inaccurate. Again, the use of computer imaging has been very helpful during the communication process, in our practice. 3. Once you feel you have communicated your goals clearly, allow your plastic surgeon to use his/her years of experience/judgment to choose the breast implant size/profile that will best meet your goals. Again, in my practice, this decision is usually made during surgery, after the use of temporary intraoperative sizers. I hope this helps. Best wishes for an outcome that you will be very pleased with.

Answer: Choosing the right size breast implant for you I recommend an in person consultation with a plastic surgeon to discuss your goals and be measured. After I do this with my patients, we then look at pictures of women with similar measurements with different size breast implants. My patients tell me that this process is very helpful in determining what size breast implant is right for them. Dr. Ted Eisenberg, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and Author

Answer: Narrow chest - which implants? It is hard to determine the best implant size and shape for you without an in-person examination. Narrow chests will indeed create some limitations to the maximum breast size you could have, as each implant volume depends on your chest wall measurements, tissue elasticity and your desired results. It would be best to schedule an appointment with a board-certified plastic surgeon for a personal consultation.

Answer: Narrow chest Hi there, thanks for your question. You are correct in that you do have a small chest and you will find that the implant size, shape and profile available to you will be limited by your chest width. It depends what result you wish to acheive, an ultra high profile implant will give you a more prominent result compared to a high profile implant. Traditionally high profile implants are associated with a 'fake look' but this may be because they are placed on women who may have a wider chest. I often recommend high profile implants to patients who are petite with a narrow chest wall and they are pleased with the results. I would recommend visiting your surgeon to discuss the implant sizes again and maybe ask if they offer a 3D scan which will be able to show you a simulation of what different implant sizes and profiles will look like on yourself. It may also be worth asking about the position of the implant as under the muscle will give you additional padding over the implant which can help reduce the 'fake' look.Hope this helps, wishing you all the best with your future surgery.
