Do I have capsular contracture? (Photo)

Thank you for your pictures and questions. Unfortunately, there is no way to diagnose capsular contracture without a physical exam. Some visual things can appear like it and some of what you are describing sounds like it could be cap con. My advice would be to see a local plastic surgeon who is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery for an evaluation and discussion of your options. Good luck!

Thank you for your question. What you are describing does sound like the beginnings of a capsular contracture. Hematoma after surgery is very strongly related to the development of capsular contracture later on down the road. Early in the process, the capsular contracture can be disrupted with massage or something called Aspen treatment, which is a non invasive ultrasound treatment combined with other medications and massage geared at disrupting the forming capsule. My advice would be to seek out a plastic surgery practice that offers the Aspen treatment. This can sometimes help avoid surgery. Best wishes,Dr. Morrissey
