The most common side effects of any facial filler injection would be swelling and bruising.  These are temporary.  More specifically, side effects for facial filler injections for smile lines are lumpiness, over filling, asymmetry, and setting unrealistic expectations.  Careful injection technique, choosing the correct dermal filler,  and open communication with the patient about what can be achieved and what will likely not be 100% remedied is effective at avoiding those potential side effects.

The most common side effect of face filler in smile lines is bruising. For minimal to no bruising, avoid blood thinners, aspirin, fish oil/omega 3 supplements, & alcohol.  However, in the case that you do experience bruising, it can be treated easily with ice pack & covered with concealer.
