Around four years ago I received two steriod injections to treat raised acne scars on the right side of my face. I was told that they area would depress but the volume would be restored within six months. That did not happen. I have consulted with two dermatologists re treatment but was given conflicting recommendations.

Filling in depressions can be done by temporary fillers or by more permanent means such as implants. Everything is done under local and is so worth looking into.

There are a number of options to treat this problem. Fillers such as Sculptra, and Bellafill can be used to stimulate collagen growth. Autogenous fat (your own fat) can be injected in this area to add volume. You didn't mention about your residual acne scarring but there are new devices and techniques that can help with this as well. Good luck

we occasionally see a divot on a backside after someone has received a steroid shot. This is due to persistence of the crystals in the area 
flushing the area with bacteriostatic sodium chloride every 2 to 4weeks will wash out the crystals and correct the atrophy 
 a depressed area on face after a steroid injection can be due to the same thing and the treatment would be the same
 if it is due to a scar from of the cyst then fillers such as bellafill can be injected to correct the depression

Thank you for your question. It is difficult to give you a good answer without seeing you. Certainly dermal fillers or collagen stimulating fillers such as Bellafill or Sculptra may be of benefit. Another option would be micronized fat transfer (ALMI) which is rich in regenerative cells. Best to seek a consult with an experience aesthetic physician.
