My appendix scar: would lipo help me to have a flat stomach? (Photos)

Personally, I have used Vaser ultrasound liposuction to remove fat from your tummy and flatten out the indented scar area. This will also remove stubborn fat and tighten skin without a tummy tuck.An exam and consultation with a plastic surgeon who performs these procedures is recommended to confirm you are a candidate as well as discuss your options and expectations.

In my opinion, your best option is a full tummy tuck to remove the excess skin along with the scar and to tighten the muscle bulge. I do not think you need liposuction if you have a tummy tuck. Liposuction alone will not give significant improvement. Best wishes.

If you are planning to have more children and want to improve things in the meantime, then liposuction will definitely improve your contour. During the liposuction procedure the appy scar can be released from the underlying muscle to create a better contour. However you invariably will be left with some loose skin. If you do not plan on having more children then by all means the  tummy tuck would be the better choice. It would address not only removing the entire scar and looseness of the abdominal  skin but also tighten your underlying muscles. Good luck. Hope this helps

When patients have contracted scars on the abdomen, it can lead to the surrounding skin looking bulging and uneven. Fortunately for an appendix scar, the entire scar should usually be able to be removed with a tummy tuck including the surrounding skin which makes the bulging. 
While liposuction can improve the contour somewhat by creating a more even projection, the results are more limited compared to a tummy tuck which can offer the best treatment of these areas. 
Seeing a plastic surgeon will allow you to get a detailed examination and a personalized treatment recommendation.

So, liposuction by itself would not give you a "flat stomach".  You definitely would need some skin excision, specifically to address the indented appy scar.  Also, it would probably benefit you to lose 5-10 pounds prior to the surgery.  Good luck and hope this helps!

However, if you are planning to have more children, you might want to hold off on the tummy tuck until you are done having children.A tummy tuck would help by removing the appendectomy scar, removing the excess skin and flattening your tummy by tightening the muscle. It's often best to wait to tighten the muscles after you are done having children.Liposuction will remove the extra tummy fat and give you a nicer waist. However, it will not remove the appendectomy scar.Before jumping into surgery, I would have you consider a weight loss and exercise program, because you might be able to get the liposuction results without surgery. Also, make sure you find a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with experience because doing liposuction over the appendectomy scar has some risks. You need to make sure there is not a hernia underneath the scar.Consider all your options and Good Luck!

Dear MilanMom,   Thanks for posting your pictures. From observing your pictures , you have  skin and muscles laxity from your chest bone to your pubic bone. It will be a mistake on your part to do  liposuction, because it will be an unhappy compromise and you will ask for tummy tuck surgery later on. However, the result of the tummy tuck after the liposuction will  not be optimal because of the skin stiffness due to the scarring under the skin and skin irregularities due to the uneven distribution of the fat.   Your best option is tummy tuck with possible liposuction later on , if needed. I have been in practice for over 30 years and performed tummy tuck surgery on well over 1000 patients. Only about 10% of these patients requested liposuction.   Tummy tuck will be one of the best investments in yourself. It will increase your self esteem, confidence and sense of femininity. You will get flat stomach, tight and youthful looking skin, nice belly button, improved body posture and most likely you will lose significant amount of weight due to the abdominal muscle tightening that will reduce the amount of food that you can eat and your sense of hunger.  And yes, your appendectomy scar will be completely removed .   You have to realize that not all results are the same, because experience, technical skills and aesthetic eye are critical for good outcome. So, do you due diligence carefully and choose your surgeon wisely.   Always, consult with experienced board certified plastic surgeons who operate in accredited surgery center for your safety. It looks like you would best be served by diet and exercise to lose a few pounds. Weight watchers has a program that can work on your phone. Of course every little bit helps. Liposculpture by the right surgeon can afford a significant improvement. An abdominoplasty would flatten the external abdomen and get rid of the appendectomy scar with a low infraabdominal incision. question. Based on your photograph, you are a great candidate for a tummy tuck
with liposuction.  Your appendectomy scar can be completely removed.  This can be done
through a low and short incision, all completely below the bikini line.  The belly button can be designed to look
natural and have no scars on the exterior.  
Your muscles can also be plicated resulting in a flat abdomen.  Make sure you specifically look
at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery
performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results.  The most important
aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek
consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate
you in person.
