Late 40's - Sagging Lower Face and Neck - are there any non surgical options or would a mini facelift be best? (Photos)

In the last year or two, I've noticed a dramatic change in my lower face along the jawline and under my chin, with loose neck skin under my chin and thereabouts. I’ve heard buzz about mini-face lifts and wonder if that would be a solution for my issues. I’m terrified of general anesthesia, so I'm hoping for non-surgical options too. I’m in my late 40s, so I expect I’m too old for non-surgical treatments to do enough.

Morpheus 8 is a non-invasive skin and soft tissue tightening treatment that is consistently amazing in our patients. We use the Morpheus to exact fractional induced RF into the skin or tissue in order to tighten collagen and stimulate contraction of the tissue. For acne scars, it is quite useful to build collagen in patients who have atrophic scars but is not very productive for ice-pick scars which require TCA Cross. For tissue tightening, Morpheus is ideal for the face and neck and we often combine it with CO2 laser or Ultherapy to further enhance results. Chemical peels and skin resurfacing should be done at least 5 to 7 days after, but can be performed earlier, depending on treatment severity. Avoid exfoliating skin treatments before Morpheus and expect a period of 2-4 weeks for skin contraction to set in.

Your appearance certainly does'nt look too bad. Non surgical options include filler, jawline threads, and Ultherapy. These can make small improvements, but for a much better improvement a mini facelift can be done. It can be performed under local anesthesia, and gives a long term and natural result. Be sure to see a facial specialist for consultation.

It is very normal to feel apprehension when thinking about surgical procedures. Starting out with laser treatments to boost collagen in the dermis would be very beneficial for your entire face and neck. The UltraClear laser also has a "micro-coring" component to help get rid of skin excess and improve laxity. I would recommend looking into laser before proceeding with facelift surgery as your overall aesthetics are holding up very well.

It is hard to make good evaluation of your neck/face based on these photos. However, it is very likely that an extended posterior neck lift with scars underneath the chin and behind the ear or lower face/neck lift would give you a long lasting improvement. In person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon with good reputation in face/neck rejuvenation is recommended. Good luck.

Based on only two post photos, I recommend a virtual consultation or a better posting of photos, but based on what it said, the non-surgical options are at best temporary, including fillers, Botox, laser, skin pills, threading with added expenses, needing to be repeated at least twice a year if not more. Minimal surgical as in a mini face neck lift with multiplication are much more long-term acting, and less lasting in that at least 4 to 5 years of not longer IV sedation can be used expect fees to range from $5000-$10,000.
