Thank you for your question! When microneedling, you create microchannels in the skin. You may note pin point (petechial) bleeding with some flaking post-procedure. However, if you have large scabs, this could mean the procedure was not performed correctly or too aggressively.
microneedling, lasers, peels call can cause scabbing and need proper skin care. For Antiaging, I would suggest a combination approach of :1) skin care with products and PRP/microneedling2) PDT light therapy few times a month with growth factors3) laser treatments like clear and brilliant regularly and a few times a year Fraxel, Viva, Co2/Erbium4) Sculptra injections a few times a year for collagen production with fillers like juvederm/restylane/belotero/radiesse/bellafill5) thermage/ultherapy for yearly skin tightening with or without PDO or cone based instalift threads for lifting6) botox every 2-3 months to stop movement lines and prevent lines at rest7) deep microneedling RF like Fractora/morpheus8 for tightening of the skinBest, Dr. Emer.
Hello there, It is not typical to experience scabbing from this treatment. In my experience, most patients will experience some rough, dry, irritated, sensitive areas. There also may be some flaking or peeling that occurs, but never actual scabbing. I would be concerned if this occurred. I would definitely discuss this with your provider. Sarah RN BSN
Hello and thank you for your question. Microneedling can cause minor scabbing and flaking for a couple days post procedure. However, it is not normal to have multiple large/thick scabbing. As mentioned by others, that is a sign of an over aggressive treatment. The scabs can leave scarring if not cared for properly. When getting procedures done make sure your going to a qualified, experienced provider. Hope this helps, good luck to you.
Microneedling can cause tiny flakes of scabbing or dried blood during the initial healing period after the procedure. It is not normal to have larger or patches of scabbing which may indicate an overly aggressive treatment and increase risk of scarring. Hope this helps!Johnson C. Microneedling causes trauma to the skin. This may cause scabbing however, this is a common side effect of this procedure and it can last up to 3 to 5 days. After scabbing subsides, skin and texture should improve.
