Good question. Technique is everything. Some providers move their microneedling pen back and forth abrading the skin and causing damage. A gentile up and down motion just touching the skin avoids causing injury and granulomas. Depending on what your trying to achieve and the type of skin a provider should go to the correct depth. Avoid perfumes and makeup for several days after. Hope this is helpful. JB
Hello there, If proper technique and post-treatment care is taken, granulomas should never be an issue. We use a Skinfuze line of products that are designed for use after treatment. If a patient uses this line of skincare, it GREATLY reduces the risk of granuloma. I would recommend discussing this with your provider if you have more concerns. Hope this helps. Sarah RN BSN
When microneedling, we use different depths depending on the skin type, and the part of the face we are treating. For example, the skin on your forehead is much thinner than the skin on your cheeks---thus we would start at about .5 mm and maybe go as deep as 2.5 mm over the cheeks or deep scars....
