Hi and thank you for your question! Icing particularly after the filler injection can help with reducing the swelling and it is a common practice at many clinics. I hope it helps and good luck!
Thank you for your question. Icing after lip injections can decrease swelling. Please follow the recovery instructions and guidance provided by your injector and board certified facial plastic surgeon.Best wishes,
abethel. I am a big fan of ice after most facial procedures to reduce swelling, bruising and even pain. A neat trick is buy 2 small bags of frozen peas use one bag on your lips and have the other in the freezer to be nice and cold for the second session. After swelling subsides, eat the peas! I sometimes ice the lips prior to lip augmentation injections to numb the lips/ Be sure to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon. Good luck!
There are a few ways to reduce swelling, bruising, and pain and also speed the recovery. This includes icing and Arnica. However, you should speak with your injector about their specific recommendations. The video below is also helpful.
Thank you for your question. Each office has their own protocol as to how they manage pain and risk for swelling and bruising. Icing certainly can help vasoconstrict the vessels prior to injection, to help with the risk of bruising, and after injection help with swelling.
While each injector has different guidelines, icing afterwards is generally recommended especially lip augmentation. Icing beforehand does not generally help. Prior to lip augmentation, avoiding blood thinners and taking arnica may help. After lip augmentation, observing your injector's recommendations especially in regards to diet (low salt) and activity helps with the bruising and swelling.
Thank you for your question. Swelling after treatment with fillers is common, especially when the lips are injected. I recommend that my patients ice the area for up to 48 hours after treatment in order to minimize normal postprocedure swelling and bruising, if present. Please be sure to address any specific questions or concerns to your injector. Hope this helps and best wishes!
Hello, and thanks for your question. Yes, ice can minimize swelling and bruising after placement of lip filler. Best of luck, Dr. Frucht.
Hi!Thanks for the question. I personally do not like icing at all, and with my method I do not believe that this will minimize any swelling or bruising. I have to add that almost no one of my patients gets bruising from lips. Having that said I can imagine that different methods can have different effects on the swelling and bruising, so I suggest to follow your physicians recommendation on icing in this matter.
Icing is one of the techniques used by many injectors to reduce swelling and bruising. Post treatment is also recommended to avoid: strenuous activity, extensive sun or heat exposure, aspirin or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and alcoholic beverages for 24 hours. Take in consideration specific post procedures instructions given at time of treatment, and always see a board certified physician with training for these type of non-surgical aesthetic facial procedures.Best,
