Hello, I’m 41 have olive skin my BA was done 17 months ago. Up until 10m post surgery they didn’t look as red at the ends as seen in the pic. What is the pigmented looking blotchiness at each end of scar and will this go away on its own or by 2 years ?
Answer: Hyper pigmentation darking around scar Hello, thank you for your question. It take about 1 year for the scar to completely mature in color and strength. Certain factors play a role in how we heal, including: genetics, tension on the wound, if the healing was complicated by infection or this is the second time around entering in the incision. Given your scenario most likely genetic causing your hyper pigmentation since your actual scar is a fine white line. We usually have our patient start silicone product at 3 w post op. You may want to consider, micro needling, topical vitamin C serum or laser to help lighten the scar and then to fill in the white areas, you may want to consider scar camouflage tattoo. Feel free to check out our website for some more information about scars and silicone.

Answer: Scar improvement Thanks for your question! Scars will continue to improve for 2 years, but I might suggest microneedling or another form of laser treatment to help it along. Good luck!

Answer: Breast Augmentation Scars Thank you for your question about your breast augmentation scarring. Scars generally take one year to fully heal. There are a few options to help scars if they become thickened or are still red. For specific questions like this and about your recovery in general, it is best to speak directly with your doctor or doctor’s representative – such as his or her nurse, or the physician on call for the practice. You will likely get many differing opinions from members of the RealSelf Community, but they have not personally seen or examined you. Nobody should know you or your unique set of circumstances better than your doctor. If you feel you are not being listened to or you are doubting your doctor’s recommendations, then it is certainly within your rights to seek a second opinion and get the advice from another board certified physician. This should be done through an in-person consultation with a thorough evaluation, including a review of your history, review of all prior treatment and with a physical examination.
