Does not feel like nerve pain, worse when stretching area, feels better when rubbed. Pain 25 weeks PO. Painful area when stretching abdomen or moving pelvic bone. Feels like there some sort of tight band coming from my bone and going towards my ABD. The other side of body is soft and has no firm area. Pain originates where my finger is, and follows blue arrows. But does not go below top of my pelvis, and goes just a bit past my scar. Feels better w/ firm massage. Thoughts? Been here since early on. Afraid I might be stuck with the pain. Follow up w/ PS in 3 weeks, does not feel like nerve pain.
Answer: Pain when stretching abdomen Dear mystic4390, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: Pain I'm sorry to hear of the discomfort you are experiencing since your tummy tuck. It's difficult to say what may be causing this without an examination. Is the pain new? Did it begin after activity? It may be related to scar tissue or swelling or something else. Your surgeon should be able to guide you after your appointment.

Answer: Pain when stretching This may be due to scar tissue from the way in which the abdominal skin was closed. The inguinal ligament runs along the incision line from your hip to your pelvis and if the sutures are placed within this some patients can experience this tight or pulling sensation. Massage can help loosen the scarring a bit

Answer: Still healing Hi! Thank you for your question and picture. The healing process after liposuction and tummy tuck operations may go over a year and sometimes two. Some parts of the incisions may heal later than other parts. So here first of all you must get the opinion of your operating doctor. Humbly my idea is daily massage with herbal oils and mild stretching movements will help to resolve the pain. I hope I could answer your question.

Answer: Odd sensations after tummy tuck The tummy tuck is a massive procedure that reconstruct your entire abdominal wall. It leaves people with a very different sensation of their torso which takes a long time for some to get used to. It’s not uncommon to have areas of pain and tenderness particularly with different motions like stretching. A feeling of tightness is very common. Most people get a custom to it and it becomes the new normal and they go on with life. The more people focus on little things that may be wrong the longer those things seem to persist. In the end there is probably nothing that can be done other than you moving on with life. You can try stretching exercises or request a consultation for physical therapy if it doesn’t get better within a year. Most patients have some little discomfort issue within the first year of having this procedure. For some people it’s the numbness of the skin, for some is burning around the belly button, for some its pain around the incision going to their thigh. You had a really big operation and it’s going to have changed your body and it takes time to heal and get used to it. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
