Input needed for breast augmentation. What size implant should I go with? (Photo)

Question

5’1” 115lb female. I want to be conservative in size and needing input. I have broad shoulders and a high/no waist and don’t want my breasts to consume my torso. I am unsure what size breast implant to go with. Thanks for your help.

It is critical that you find a plastic surgeon who knows breast aesthetic surgery very well.  There are very specific measurements that guide a surgeon to select the appropriate size implant for each individual breast/patient. I recommend finding a surgeon who uses 3D imaging preoperatively to eliminate any doubt on what things will look like after surgery. Please see attached video.

To determine the size of the implant, an examination is important and various factors must be checked. Chest width, thickness of tissue, nipple to inframammary fold distance (resting/maximal stretch), degree of ptosis, size desired by the patient, etc. must be known, and the appropriate dimension may vary depending on the surgical method.

During the surgery, a sizer - a temporary implant, is used  by adjusting the amount of saline injected to determine the optimal size of the implant that will give it the prettiest shape.
You should consult a plastic surgeon via 1:1 consultation and discuss the size and dimension of the implant during your consultation. Still, if we roughly estimate it, you would need an implant of 250 to 350 cc.

I'd suggest using 3D breast implant imaging.  The technology can be used to view both implant volume and profile.  Based on your photos I'd do a low plus or moderate profile;  250 - 300cc volume.

Depends on your desired cup size.  Something in the 300 cc range should give you a nice C sup that will be long lasting and fit your slender body well.

breast implant type and sizing selection is a complicated process and requires a detailed consultation that includes a discussion of your goals, a detailed examination, and a lengthy discussion. But the decision will always start and end with the patient. When it comes to sizing, we have all of our patients find 3 photos of their desired breast size. We ask for naked breast photos because clothing can obscure the true size (push up bras). Next, we consult with patients and go over the photos and take detailed breast measurements during a physical exam. Next, we using a sizing algorithm to determine a range of implants that will work based on the exam and the measurements.Lastly, during the operation, we use silicone sizers in the operating room to see how the size actually looks in the breast. We sit the patient up in the operating room, while asleep of course, and compare the sizer result with their desired look photos. If it is too small, we start the process over with a slightly larger implant. We don't stop until we get the perfect match.Of all of my breast augmentation patients, every one of them has been happy with their size due to this detailed and meticulous process. You don't want to invest time and money into a result that is either too big or too small.You should discuss your concerns with a board-certified plastic surgeon and make sure that your surgeon understands your goals.

Thanks for your question! Without taking measurements, knowing the look you are going for, etc, it is pretty difficult to make a recommendation. My best guess would be a moderate profile of a moderate size to get you cleavage without making you too big. Good luck!

Choosing a breast implant size is both a personal and intricate process. My best recommendation is to have an in person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon where you will be able to ask questions, see and feel implants and their differences, see photos, have an exam and measurement taken, try on sizers in the office, etc. All of these are important points in the process to take in account and arrive at the best implant for you!  The answer that you probably are looking for, are based on your photos and comments, my best estimate is that you would be happy and look proportionate with a smooth round moderate profile silicone implant in the 200-250cc range. Point taken about not wanting your breasts to overshadow your torso given that you are petite.  I recommend patients go through a sizing process where they try on sizers of various volumes to find the size they like on their bodies.  That coupled with breast measurements and going over goal photographs really helps find the right size that fits your body and the look you're seeking.

Breast implants are not lifetime devices determined by the FDA. I recommend conservative sizes as well. Unfortunately, you have not told us your bra size. However. if you are size 32 or 34, each 100 cc of implant corresponds to 1 cup size change. If you are size 36 or 38, each 200 cc of implant corresponds to 1 cup size change. You appear quite thin and I would probably recommend 200 cc implants to the most 300 cc implants.
