Answer: What could be the cause for burning sensation 2 years after Brazilian butt lift? Hello @881418, thank you for your question. Is important that you consult this with the doctor that performed the procedure, because it depends on the surgical technique. Almost always in a surgery there are predetermined times. We speak that the inflammatory process can reach almost 3 months and in those three months it is very normal to feel discomfort, burning sensation, numbness, some kind of feeling of limitation but the healing process is maintained until the year. It is important to be clear that there are some sensations that may be normal but it is essential to talk to your specialist. Best wishes! Alan Gonzalez MD, FACS. Answer: What could be the cause for burning sensation 2 years after Brazilian butt lift? Some general information on potential causes for a burning sensation experienced two years after a Brazilian butt lift (BBL). However, it's important to consult a medical professional for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate advice. 1.) Nerve Sensation Changes: The burning sensation might be due to changes in nerve sensitivity or regeneration in the areas where the BBL was performed. Nerves can take a long time to heal and regenerate, and unusual sensations like burning, tingling, or numbness can occur during this process. 2.) Scar Tissue: Over time, scar tissue can form around the incision sites or the areas where fat was transferred during the BBL. Scar tissue can sometimes cause sensations like burning or discomfort due to its effect on surrounding tissues and nerves. 3.) Inflammation: Inflammation can persist in the body for a while after a surgical procedure like a BBL. This lingering inflammation could potentially contribute to a burning sensation. Chronic inflammation might be related to the body's response to the surgical trauma or an underlying condition. 4.) Nerve Compression: Nerves might become compressed or trapped due to changes in the surrounding tissue, leading to sensations of burning or discomfort. 5.) Infection or Complications: Although rare, infections or other complications could potentially arise even years after the surgery. If an infection or complication isn't properly addressed, it could cause various symptoms, including a burning sensation. 6.) Skin Sensitivity: Changes in skin sensitivity, texture, or hydration levels could result from the surgical procedure itself or from the healing process. These changes might manifest as a burning sensation. 7.) Underlying Conditions: There might be underlying medical conditions, unrelated to the BBL, that could cause a burning sensation. These could include nerve disorders, autoimmune conditions, or other health issues. It's important to consult with a medical professional who can assess your specific situation. If you're experiencing persistent or concerning symptoms like burning sensations, it's best to reach out to the surgeon who performed the BBL or a qualified healthcare provider. They can conduct a physical examination, review your medical history, and perform any necessary tests to determine the cause of your symptoms and recommend appropriate treatment or interventions.
