Are my wrinkly hands a result of my extreme eczema when I was younger? Treatment options? (photos)

Question

When I was younger I had eczema from age 1 to 10 and it’s was bad open wounds all over my body especially my hands and feet, I very dry skin these days to the point it looks like a river bed that has had no water in it for 10,000 years, my hands are extremely tough like I’ve worked in a coal mine for 50 years, I’m 21 for reference. Any ideas I’ve contemplated laser resurfacing but that’s is a last resort. Any help will be greatly appreciated thanks

Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. It is hard to determine whether childhood eczema contributed to your dry hands.  Atopic dermatitis or eczema is often chronic and can have flares into adulthood.  Platelet rich plasma has been shown to be an effective treatment for dermatitis (inflammation) and volume loss.  Frequent lubrication can help also.  Most skin care regimens that are used on the face can also be used on the hands.  Microdermabrasion can remove dead skin and promote new skin growth.  Fillers with or without the PRP can add volume. Hyaluronic acid fillers draw water to hydrate your skin.  Get a formal consultation to discuss the multitude of options.

It is difficult to say whether eczema has given this appearance to your hands - but it is certainly possible!
There are several options that you have available to try, ranging in downtime, costs and effectiveness.
Medical / cosmeceutical skin care regime - Effective skin care can improve the pigmentation, ‘softness’ and appearance of the hands.Fillers - Good quality fillers can last 2 years or more and can flesh out the bony appearance of the hands.Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) - Using your own blood to stimulate collagen and elastin in the hands. I have personally had fantastic results with this.Laser resurfacing - probably a last resort option, and likely not needed at this stage!

Dry skin can be treated over time with deep hydration to the hands.Lathering hands in eucerin cream nightly, with insulating gloves is a good first step.Avoid liquid soaps and hot water for washing hands.Hydrafacials for the hands can also help infuse hydration.Best. Dr Brecht
