Thanks for the querry. There will be some room to move with further weight loss after any body contouring surgery, and the degree will depend on what your weight is now, now much you have lost , and what are is being operated.I suspect you could have the procedure and loss the weight you are discussing without " undoing" the result of the surgery. This you will need to discuss with your surgeon, but to me not loosing a certain number of kilos, is not a sentence to not being able to have surgery.I hope that helpsJeremy Hunt
It is usually best to lose the weight prior to surgery. I use a variety of liposuction, fat grafting techniques and a variety of body contouring procedures to achieve as smooth a result as possible with the fewest scars. I would search for the surgeon who you feel is most likely to give youthe best results. Look at reviews and before and after pictures on thatsurgeon's website.Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA
It is always best to be at your ideal and stable weight before proceeding with any cosmetic surgery. This is because if you lose the weight afterward, your results may be adversely affected. It is difficult to say how further weight loss after surgery would affect your results, therefore it's more prudent to lose it before.
The recommendations for every patient need to be individualized based on a thorough consultation. However, most body contouring procedures (including face and breast surgery) are best performed when you have achieved and maintained your weight loss and fitness goals. One of the advantages of elective surgery is that you can optimize your health, weight, and fitness prior to surgery which may improve your results and reduce complications. Depending on your size, an additional 8 kilo weight loss may result in accelerated laxity of your surgical result. Have this conversation with your Plastic Surgeon.Regards,Dr. Mosher
