My nose has been deviated since I was a child. I had rhinoplasty at 17 to straighten my nose and remove the bridge. 11 years later I can still notice the deviation and I would like my nose to be a little smaller. My specialist said I would require cartilage from my ribs to permanently keep my nose straight. This scared me a lot. Is this the best solution ? Or can something else be done?

Hello! Thank you for your question. As far as I can see from your photos, you have a droopy tip, small dorsal hump and from the front your nose looks like deviated to the one side of your face. Your surgeon might need rib cartilage because s/he does not know the amount of cartilage in your nose. Best regards!

Assuming that you already had cartilage taken from your nose (via septoplasty), then yes, the rib would be the best source of cartilage for your nose. Alternatively, some might go ahead and tell you that rib cartilage, because it is straight and hardy, is actually the best cartilage to use to straighten the nose. The surgery is really not that bad! If you are really worried, you could ask about using cadaveric rib.
