Thank you for your question in regards to laser hair removal. As long as no infection is present, laser hair removal can be treated over the area where ingrown hairs appear. To be sure what is best for you, see two or more board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment. I hope this helps.
Our patients love our laser hair removal. The treatment targets the hair follicles in the skin so they don't fester under the skin. The pore size gets smaller and the rash gets better because of no razor or other types of treatments. The skin feels softer after laser hair removal. Our patients enjoy not shaving their legs, armpits and bikini areas in summer or winter.
Yes, Laser Hair Removal is a great alternative from shaving when patients have issues with ingrown hairs and razor burn.

Dear Passionate5245,Laser hair removal is a fantastic way to get rid of bumps and ingrown hairs in any treated area. It is popular amongst men and women to get rid of razor bumps, large pores, and even get smoother skin! Ingrown hairs or folliculitis are can be the result of a staph infection. At Monroe Comprehensive Laser Center we prefer to treat folliculitis and completely clear it up using topical cleocin before we proceed with laser hair removal. Otherwise, the heat from the laser can foster further bacterial growth and make the folliculitis worse. Once the skin is clear, laser hair removal can actually help prevent future breakouts and ingrown hairs by removing the hair itself.
Laser hair removal is actually the best treatment to prevent ingrown hairs. You can receive treatment over existing ingrown hair, but if the area is infected, you would want to wait until the infection has cleared. After a laser treatment, you will have multiple hairs shed out of the treated follicles. It is important to start mechanical exfoliation 48 hours after your treatment to help the hairs shed out. Mechanical exfoliation includes rubbing with a wash cloth or loofah daily.
Hello, thank you for your question. Yes, it is OK to do laser hair reduction on this area. Laser hair reduction is a series of treatments. Once you eliminate the follicles in the area, all of the inflammation will also resolve. Good Luck!
