How long after having Juvederm do you need to not massage or rub the area?

Ive had Juvederm on my mouth lines, nasal lines and some on my frown lines. The dr said that I need to avoid pressing too hard for around 2 days when I cleanse my face and I should avoid having any kind of facial massage for the next two weeks. Is this right?

Thank you for your question. Most injectors recommend that you avoid touching the treated area too much for a day or so, but a facial massage applies so much more pressure that it could displace the product. I think 2 weeks to wait for a facial massage is fair.

I recommend sleeping on your back for 3 nights to allow the product to settle. Be gentle to the area of facial injections. Simply meaning do not apply any firm pressure to the areas for 3 days.

Any injectible has the ability to migrate or
move initially following injection particularly with massage. I recommend to my
patients that they may cleanse their face but avoid massage for 2 full days.
Thereafter the gel will be more settled and fixed to the surrounding tissues.
You may then gently massage using a lymphatic or squeegee technique to even out
any swelling.

Always
return to and follow the directions of your injector. He /she was the one that
performed the injection and should know what is best for you.

I never have mt patients massage unless they have a palpable knot. T have found that patients tend to massage the product out.. Tell you t facialist that you have had a filler and to be gentle in that area.

I tell people to be kind and gentle to their faces after any injections. While Juvederm is pretty well set a few days in, significant squeezing and hard massage can still possibly move it. I really tell people to keep their hands away from an injected area - I know how and where to massage; patients don't - and they will always massage harder than I suggest and there are too many times I've seen filler completely moved because of their bad massages. Best bet - keep your hands away from the area except for gentle cleansing. And I'd say a facial massage is fine after 3 days. "This answer has been solicited without seeing this patient and
