During my hair transplant (while the doctor was putting the grafts into the incisions), I coughed loudly a couple of times. I also coughed once right after he finished the procedure completely. I am scared that the coughing made some of the grafts pop out. Will coughing pop out newly transplanted grafts? I am stressed and really hope to get some answers from you experts. Thank you

Answer: Cough Any large sudden or rough motions can damage a transplant in the first 7 days. It is good to try to take it easy and maintain close follow up with your doctor if this happens.

Answer: Coughing during a transplant Can coughing cause grafts to pop out of the incisions? Sure. Is it likely that your coughing caused a problem. No. But run it by your surgeon to get the final answer as to what specifically happened during your surgery. Here are some general points:If the force of coughing caused a graft to pop out during a procedure, the doctor and team would likely notice and fix the situationCoughing can cause grafts to pop but it is pretty rareThe more coughing the more likely for popping. A few times is unlikely to have any consequenceCoughing, sneezing (and vomiting) after the patient goes goes home is different because nobody can see if popping occurred. In general, coughing that causes graft popping is rare. Coughing sufficient to cause problems while a patient is still at the clinic is even more rare. But check with your team to be sure
