Dr. Kaufman and his crew were awesome. I felt comfortable during surgery, and the nurses were amazing. Dr. Kaufman is intelligent, highly skilled, attentive to details, and his dry sense of humor is funny.
Dr. Kaufman was outstanding! So professional and reassuring. The nurses were so kind! I had BCC removed through Mohs surgery. I have seen doctors around the world and this was the best medical experience I have ever had. Thank you!
Excellent all around for my Mohs Surgery. Facility was professional as was Dr. Kaufman's staff. I felt like my personal safety and medical treatment was always first and foremost. Everything was well-documented and explained to me before anything started.
Just to reassure all you guys out there who like me have the pain threshold of a four year old; and it may well have something to do with Dr Kaufman's professionalism but-it doesn't hurt! I am now on my sixth day of post op and the only minor discomfort I have experienced is a small amount of swelling and a little itching.
Referred by my dermatologist for Mohs surgery on my ear. Dr,Kaufman and staff are very professional and caring. I've had 3 other Mohs surgeries by other surgery centers, but this one was by far the most comfortable. Great advice from the staff on post surgery care. Don't procrastinate. get it taken care of by a true professional. Updated on 9 Apr 2015: Clean site with Aquaphor (it sticks to wound) Make a template to cut additional non-adhesive sterile pads for daily use. Use narrow Micropore tape that allows bows of eyeglasses to be removed easily.
Dr. Kaufman and his staff are the best that I have ever encountered in my life, and I am 70 years old. I am a woman and had to have a very large skin cancer removed from my nose. Obviously I was quite concerned about the cancer as well as the surgical procedure and the repair afterwards. The procedure was explained to me in details that I could understand and the surgery and repair could not have gone better. I am so pleased with the result. I wouldn't have thought that it was possible to repair such a large area, but Dr. Kaufman did it and I had only minimal pain and swelling. Doctor Kaufman and his staff even provide snacks and beverages to help their patients and their drivers during long procedures. I would highly recommend Dr. Kaufman.
I had a nodular basal cell carcinoma right in the middle of my forehead. A good surgeon was a must. Dr. Kaufman came highly recommended and it's true. The man is brilliant at what he does. 1 month later the scar is barely noticeable. Dr. Kaufman and his staff could not be more professional, courteous, kind and informative. I will definitely be back I'm sure, since I'm a fair skinned Southern California native who spent half a decade in the sun and is paying the price for those good times now.
My dermatologist performed a biopsy on an area near my right eye. It turned out to be positive and I was referred to Dr. Kaufman. The drive to Dr. Kaufman is 45 minutes for me, but well worth it. The office is state of the art. The operating room appears to be equipped for any and everything. The entire facility is spotless. The staff is more than accommodating and the Dr. Kaufman is highly educated. He is precise, informative, gentle, and he knows MOHS surgery!
I researched my physician diligently, and was willing to travel throughout the Southern California area to see the best. Because I was dealing with a basal cell carcinoma on my face, it was a priority to not only remove the cancer growth, but hopefully have the best reconstruction, in order to avoid a unsightly scar. Dr. Kaufman fit the criteria I wanted. His education and experience exceeded all my expectations . His fellowship in MOHs surgery, and his specialty in reconstructive surgery, and double board certified, gave me peace of mind. Although this is a scary diagnosis, his staff (especially Tiffany), put me at ease. I had my stitches removed a week later, and I'm absolutely blown away how my surgical site looks. Barley visible. Yes it did take us some time to get to his office, but I would never hesitate to go back to this wonderful physician, and I will refer him to all my family and friends. Thank you Dr Kaufman.
After being diagnosed with a small skin cancer (squamous cell type), I went to Dr. Kaufman for it's removal. He, and his entire staff, were personable, caring, and efficient. He did a great job, and three months later the scar on my forehead is hardly visible. I recommend Dr. Kaufman for this type of care.
Botox works best for wrinkles caused by dynamic movement... i.e. movement of muscles causing the creases. As a result, it works well for lines between the eyebrows (so called "11's" or glabellar furrows) as well as crow's feet (periorbital rhytides). In my opinion best option to get consistent and good results is to see a doctor who performs a large number of these types of procedures.
As a general rule, yes, a cap can be worn so long as it does not rub onto the recently placed grafts in the recipient area. The main concern is to not dislodge or disturb the grafts. The donor site on the back and sides of your scalp can be covered with a cap. Best option.... discuss with your surgeon.
You should see a dermatologist and have them evaluate, likely with a biopsy. A non-healing wound is suspicious for a skin cancer. See your dermatologist so that they area can be examined and likely biopsied. Learn to perform a monthly skin self-examination while you are at it.
Best option.... talk to the Mohs surgeon. If the cancer is on the margin of the eyelid, drops may be used to anesthetize the cornea so that a protective shield (like a contact lens) may be used but most of the surgery will require a local anesthetic injected into the skin. Talk to the doctor about what he/she is planning to do.
There is a charge for the Mohs surgery (removal of the skin cancer) and a charge for the reconstruction. Medicare covers each, but patients have "patient responsibility" which may be covered by your secondary insurance if you have secondary insurance. Best option.... talk to the Mohs surgeon or their billing department. There may also be a cost for the surgery center. Check with the office.
