I had my implants removed in July after just 6 months. I made a huge mistake and realised immediately they weren’t for me. My implants were under the muscle and I’ve been left with muscle distortion. I’m from Australia and some surgeons have said the muscle can be repaired others have said it’s impossible to repair. I’d just really like an honest answer if there’s a way to correct it. I had some fat grafting done at the time of implants so one breast looks like it has double bubble.
Answer: Is there any way that animation/flex distortion can be corrected after implant removal? (Photos) Muscle pain and distortion after breast augmentation in the submuscular plane can be helped to some extent by reducing the size of the implants. The implant plane can be transitioned to subglandular, but this may compromise the aesthetic result if there is little native breast tissue.Reattaching the muscle may not be adequate, and is not an easy surgery. Inserting Strattice (or another ADM) may separate the breast tissue from the underlying muscle.

CONTACT NOW Answer: Optimising breast appearance after implant removal Hello and thank you for sharing your story and pictures. It appears from your pre explantation image that you have what is referred to as a "double fold" and this is consistent with the appearance of the short lower pole of your breasts with down pointing nipples in the post explantation image. It would be interesting to view your pre augmentation images as the "muscle distortion" after implant removal and therefore repair may not necessarily address the aesthetic issues. In my experience, you would benefit from consideration of breast lift surgery, release of the lower pole of your breasts which appear constricted and potential autologous fat graft surgery. I hope this is helpful.

Answer: Animation of implants after breast augmentation. Animation of breast implants is normal (but unwanted) after submuscular implant placement. You may also have some "window shading" of the breast skin with animation. This window shading can usually be improved by performing a dual plane II or III procedure. This also helps decrease the animation as well. If you remove the implant the muscular attachment cannot ever be repaired in the original, anatomic position.

Answer: Muscle distortion after breast implant removal During the operation, the muscle is seen and it may or may not be possible to repair it back down the chest wall. During breast augmentation surgery, the pectoralis muscle is released at is lower insertion if the implants are placed under the muscle. With the stretch from the implants, the muscle can be thinned down and it may not be substantial enough to hold a stitch for repair. As with most surgery, it can take 12 months for the body's tissues to settle. The way your breasts are now will most likely continue to change over the coming months. Hopefully the appearance continues to improve for you.

Answer: Is there any way that animation/flex distortion can be corrected after implant removal? Hello and thank you for your question and sharing your photos. You will likely benefit from a breast lift and fat transfer to enhance the volume and correct some of the contour abnormality. I would seek consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon for a full evaluation and advice. Best, Pejman Aflaki, M.D. Johns Hopkins-trained double board-certified plastic surgeon
