1.My nipple sensation decreased. If using the old areola incisions, will it worsen my nipple sensitivity? 2.My doctor used non-absorbable sutures to fix my areola prolapse. I am concerned because they are permanent and I developed discomfort in my nipples. Can the sutures be removed when having my explant surgery? Will this stretch my areola scars? 3.I had tuberous breasts to begin with. Do they develop again, if I let my implants removed? What are my options or any recommendations? Thank you!
Answer: Implants Your implants have stretched the base of your breasts, so they should not shrink back down with removal. Your nipple sensitivity may not change with the second surgery, but will not be improved. The permanent sutures can be removed, and you should not stretch our since you are not getting implants to stretch out your breasts. You might even consider going down in size and internal tightening to help minimize the need of a lift.

Answer: Want my implants to be removed soon In order to remove the implants enbloc your surgeon may need to create an incision in the fold of the breast. It is unlikely that your breasts will return completely to their tuberous shape as the breasts have been modified surgically via the lift as well as the implants stretching the tissues. Any time there is surgery on the breasts there is a chance of change in sensitivity, but the risk is typically low. I encourage you to meet with a board certified plastic surgeon near you to learn more.

Answer: Implant removal Dear tubii, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Generally speaking, implants can be removed using the same incision. If you had tuberous breasts, they probably won't return to their original shape. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Daniel Barrett, MD

Answer: I had a tuberous breast surgery and subareolar lift 8 yrs ago. Want my implants to be removed soon (Enbloc). Generally speaking, en bloc breast implant removal requires a longer incision; peri areolar approaches do not suffice in most cases. Also, in most cases where patients have had an aesthetically pleasing correction of tuberous breasts, their breast appearance after breast implant removal does not "return" to the tuberous (constricted) look. You may wish to post frontal and side view photographs of your breasts for more specific thoughts.Generally speaking, what your breasts will look like after explantation depends on several factors such as: the quality of skin elasticity (the better the elasticity the better the skin will bounce back), the size of the implants used (the larger the implant the more trouble you may have with redundant skin), and the amount of breast tissue present at this time (which may have changed since the time of your breast augmentation). Life experience since your breast augmentation procedure, such as pregnancy or weight gain weight loss, will potentially influence the factors discussed above. If you take these factors into consideration and apply them to your specific circumstances you may get a good idea of what to expect after the implants are removed. Patience is definitely indicated after removal of breast implants; it will take many months/year for the skin to “bounce back” and for you to see the final appearance of the breasts. In "borderline" cases where there is doubt whether breast lifting is necessary or not, I advise patients to undergo explantation only and to give their breasts the benefit of the doubt before deciding whether breast lifting would be beneficial. My best advice: select your plastic surgeon carefully. Make sure that he/she has significant experience achieving the types of outcomes you will be pleased with. Then, communicate your goals carefully, as well. In our practice, this is best done with the help of goal photographs and computer imaging. I hope this helps. Best wishes.

Answer: What are some of the complications from removing the breast implants? If you have textured implants and/or wish to remove as much of the possible silicone, I would recommend an enbloccapsulectomydotcom and this I usually do through incision under the breast. This has become my specialty. This is removal of the breast implant together or en bloc wit the surrounding capsule so there would not be contamination of the remaining tissue. The main down side is that your breasts will probably sag more and be less full depending on the size of the implants removed but I usually do a breast reconstruction and possible fat grafting which I usually do at same time! There are several types from just a small uplift to a full anchor scar type and it really depends. The larger the implant and saggier your breasts, the more scars compared to someone with small breasts and implants. If I do an en bloc procedure, I usually use drains which stay in for about 3-5 days.
