Question

I am 4 weeks following SMAS face and neck lift. On one side of my face I can feel two little hard lumps, feels like an internal stitch. The side of my face is quite hard and quite dark. I know final results are 6-12 months but wondering if this is normal at this stage of healing? Thank you

Hi thank you for your question. You are still very early on post surgery. Sometimes you may be able to feel some of the sutures inside but these will resolve over time. I would go back to your surgeon for some reassurance but give yourself a bit more time to heal.

Hi there, Thanks for the photo. Deep sutures can be palpable after surgery for a few weeks. They often resolve with time and conservative measure. A short scar Facelift surgery ends behind the ear with the classic extension into or towards the hairline and the front incision does extend up the temporal hairline. We recently published a chapter on this topic in the plastic and reconstructive reference textbook. The results are mostly obvious by 3 months and settled in by 6. Good luck.
