Internal sutures poking from inside out. Is this normal?

the sutures from my thigh tuck are poking me from the inside out. This is causing me great pain. Before that they were sticking out. Now the skin is swollen and growing around them. Is this normal?

Thank you for your question. The sutures may be absorbable and too close to the surface and your body is spitting them out.  They resolve over a few weeks.I hope this helps!

There are multiple inner thigh lift incision patterns. A horizontal inner thigh lift leaves an incision line in the groin crease which can lead to scar spreading and incision issues. External sutures commonly will rub and irritate the thigh. Staples can be more comfortable with this procedure. The horizontal thigh lift as well utilizes deeper sutures which need to be placed in the deep supportive tissue layer of the thigh. If placed too superficial they can be irritating. Suture palpability is related to size and type of the suture, as well as the depth it was placed and how many knots were tied.
