Would fixing a deviated septum on my nose change my nose shape? (Photo)

A septoplasty by itself is done for breathing and should not affect the appearance at all. But make sure you confirm this with your surgeon.

Septoplasty itself to address a deviated septum, will not change the shape of your nose. This surgery is performed to allow better airflow through your nose so it improves your breathing. It's not a painful process but you might experience mild to moderate discomfort for a few days. I perform septoplasty surgeries under general anesthesia.

Good Morning! If a pure septoplasty is done, as long as the surgeon is careful, no changes to the external structure of the nose should occur. If major septal work needs to be performed through a open rhinoplasty approach, then changes could occur. It sounds like yours may be straight-forward so I wouldn't worry too much. Hope this helps!

The nasal septum divides the nostrils and is composed of a mucous membrane, cartilage, and bone. It provides nasal support. When straight, it allows passage of air through the nose and into the throat. If displaced from midline, it may cause mechanical obstruction of the involved nasal airway.
A septoplasty involves straightening the bone and cartilage of this internal structure. It will not affect external appearance.
