Does anyone get body dysmorphia after facial plastic surgery such as rhinoplasty?

Although not very common, I have seen this before. Some patients can be quite shocked initially. If you worry this could be a major issue for you, I would advise against surgery. I have had some patient's talk to a psychologist which they found to be very helpful. I would also suggest doing this before as well if it is something you are concerned about.

Rhinoplasty will change your appearance. Most of the time for the better. This will lead to a boost in self-esteem and confidence. However, I would recommend you to be completely ready for the change. During your consultation, you can ask for a simulation. This tool will help you decide together with your surgeon what your ideal nose may look like. It will give you an idea of how your nose may look after the surgery. Good luck.

Body dysmorphia is a mental illness in which one obsesses about perceived appearance flaws. These individuals should NOT undergo cosmetic surgery until evaluated and treated by a mental healthcare professional.
After your lip filler injections, you experienced normal post injection swelling which abated after a period of time. This will also be true of rhinoplasty. Initially, there will be swelling, sometimes severe and associated with "black eyes" which will distort and camouflage the surgical result. A rough idea of the result will be apparent by 4-6 weeks, but it takes 12-18 months for all of the swelling to subside.
If this scenario is frightening to you, it is not the appropriate time to consider surgery.
