Chin Implant Removal - Complications / Thing to look out for? (Photos)

Question

I am 20 years old and I got a chik implant placed two weeks ago. As soon as I got it I knew I hated it. I gave it a chance to wait for swelling to go down, but I honestly really hate it and want it out as soon as possible. It brings me so much anxiety knowing I have this in my face and have been booking consultations with other surgeons to remove it, as I do not want my original surgeon to touch my face anymore. Are there any specific complications that I should be worried about? Any insight would be helpful, I feel like I’ve been so alone in this process!

Its important to address the soft tissue after chin implant removal so that the extra stretched skin does not droop. I would suggest a consultation with an expert in the field. I have removed many chin implants and focus highly on the aftercare.

They are appealing: quick surgery, cheap, outpatient management and veeery easy technical for the surgeon, even the less skilled and experienced can do them, however they have very bad downsides, in practical terms they have short duration due to pain, displacement, visibility, mobility, weird gestures, failing to achive goals, etc, and I mean this about silicone, medmore and any other material used for them.

You have microgenia, this is small bone developtment at the chin, therefore you need chin augmentation with bone supply (iliac grafting); not a case for sliding genioplasty giving there's nothing to slide, it is primery deficit of bone substance.

True that such a revision genioplasty is tricky, complex and need lots of experience and talent, among other goals the mentalis nerves have to be spared (routine maneouver) and the mentalis tendon be reattached to the bone surface via trans-osseous drilling (also routine).

If it is made of silicone, the implant is easy to remove. Some other implants can be difficult to remove. It is always easier to remove closer to the time of surgery. If the implant did not meet your expectations, then have it removed. You might want to consider a more moving your natural chin (sliding genioplasty) to achieve facial balance. In this way, both the horizontal and vertical aspect of your chin can be addressed.

You can have that plan moved ASAP under local anesthesia with suturing of the incision and aggressive taping of the chin tissue for approximately a week to 10 days. Expect the fee of using a new surgeon to be $2000-$5000. Best of virtual concert with.

My personal view is that if the patient knows they want the implant out early then it should be removed ASAP before scar tissue develops.
If you take them out within a couple of weeks, it’s a really simple procedure that can be done in the office with local anesthesia with little to no consequence. Removing the implant is much easier and much less involved than placing it.
Each surgeon will have their own view on this.
Tell your provider you want the implant removed.
In my opinion, it’s better to do it sooner rather than later unless the patient is further along in which case there may be some advantages to waiting longer. this is to allow scar tissue to mature before the second procedure.
Expect different providers to have different opinions.
Generally, the answer is do it right away or wait six months.
