Can a septoplasty perforation caused by hydrogen peroxide? (Photo)

Day 2 of post-op I cleaned my nose with hydrogen peroxide and a Q-tip. I cleaned around the rim of the nose inside and out very lightly. 30 minutes later my nose started to bleed in little drops running out of my nose. I was unable to get the bleeding to stop overnight although it slowed down significantly. I woke up this morning to a crust filled nose and a good amount of pressure towards the bridge of my nose. Did I cause a preferation ???

In all likelihood, you took off a small crust of dried blood which started rebleeding.  I would get in to see your surgeon, so that you can be examined.

more than likely one of the small, dissolving stitches gave way after using the hydrogen peroxide and thats why you noted some bleeding.  I would discuss this with your operating doc today and let his office know as they know what kind of sutures were used and whether or not this was to be expected.  Best of luck with the healing process!
