The way someone can go blind with an injection if the HA filler goes into an artery. There has been cases around the world where this has happened so injectors always have to inform you of potential consequences that may arise. You need to go to an injector who is well qualified (board certified plastic surgeon or a nurse working under a surgeon) and knows their anatomy so that safe injections can be offered in order for these complications can lessen. Special needles called cannulas are also used in practice to lower the risk of these occurring.
Blindness from a lip filler is extremely rare and I do not believe has been reported in the scientific literature. Blindness from injection has been shown to be associated with injections around the eyelid area. Hope this helps.Raja Mohan MD
I have never heard of any case where a patient when blind from a lip injection. Bruising, yes. Blindness, no.
To my knowledge there has never been any cases reported of blindness after having the lips injected with fillers. I have personally completely switched to using blunt microcanulas for the injection of fillers which cause less bruising and swelling and more importantly significantly decrease the possibility of any vascular embolization.
Thanks for the great question! Although many of the arteries in the face are connected to each other, it would be very rare to have blindness from injection of lip fillers. Most of the cases of blindness have occurred with injection of the filler around the eyes. Lip fillers are not totally benign and can still cause areas of skin loss if injected incorrectly. I currently only use HA fillers as they are reversible if something did happen. I hope this helps and best of luck!~Dr. Sieber
It's difficult to tell from your pictures. This may be post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation which can be improved with a combination of lasers, Aerolase, microneedling/prp, skin lightening, peels, and skin care. Sun protection is essential. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic...
This doesn't look like a vascular occlusion, But i would follow up with your injector at the 2 week mark as it may be some bumps due to overfill of the product. To help with the bruising consider taking some arnica pills or eating a pineapple(the bromelain in it helps with bruising). Also avoid...
I agree with your injector, as the area appears to resemble a bruise. I suggest giving the area some time to resolve (such as 1-2 weeks) then following-up with your board certified plastic surgeon. Good luck!
Hello,I'm not sure how a practitioner can ever claim that the procedure is pain-free. Traditionally, this is a very tender area. Practitioners that are mindful of the discomfort associated with this treatment will rely on numbing cream, icing throughout the treatment, Arnica gel, and a ge...
It will take 2 weeks for swelling to subside after lip injections. I would recommend that you book a 2 week follow up with your injector and if you are still unhappy you can discuss options . Best of luck !
There shouldn't be an issue with using bleach following dermal fillers. if you have any swelling or redness following application I would withhold using the bleach
