Your surgeon should try to size your areola to fit the size of your breasts.

This does not mean that the final diameter of the areola will be this precise as you are suturing pliable areola to pliable skin and there will be a little bit of give and take as the tissue heals. With a reduction mammoplasty, the areolar is usually reduced as well. The usual areola measurements after surgery are around 42 mm in diameter. Your doctor will re-size your areola to fit your new breast. Most areola are around an inch and a half in diameter. If you would like larger/smaller sized areola then make sure you discuss it with your doctor at your consultation and again on the morning of surgery.

There is no doubt that you would benefit from a breast reduction. It is hard to get this covered by Medicaid but each state it different and not all plastic surgeons accept Medicaid. You might check with a medical center that has a plastic surgery residency. They are usually on Meidcaid. Good luck.
