Usually if a woman wears a size 36 AB bra and would like to be a C cup, which is the average size that women wear and the average size bra that is sold, she needs a volume of approximately 350 to 390 cc to make that change. This becomes less if she's wearing a 34 bra, because it has a smaller strap size and the cups have a smaller diameter. A smaller diameter implant would then be a volume of approximately 300 to 350 cc. In the same way if she was more petite, maybe a double zero or size one and wore a 32 AB bra, then to become a 32C cup she would only require about 250 to 300 cc. This is a general number, and of course there are other factors that will affect this. Other factors which contribute to the outcome are size, shape, and profile. The #profile is determined by the amount of #projection versus roundness that the you desire, as well as the #size of the implant and size of your chest. Also, the placement or incision location will also have an effect on profile. However, #BreastImplants without a #BreastLift is usually said to be mistake by many patients who reflect back on the decision. Most breasts will look larger and more droopy with solely implants. They will sag more and sooner, due to the sudden and excess weight. At times it's possible for a “Snoopy” breast or double bubble to develop as a result. Additionally, an implant with lift may be useful to re-position the nipples which may have been affected by ptosis or drooping. One of the primary intentions of a Breast Lift (#Mastopexy) is to improve the shape and position of the breast without reducing their size. It is used especially for breasts which sag or droop (#ptosis).Another element to a satisfying result of your #augmentation is realistic #expectations.Talk to your surgeon at greater length and be sure to view before and after pictures and reviews beforehand to gain more reassurance of the procedure.

Go with a lift and nipple reduction. With implants alone, large ones, you will end up with more drooping over time and a wider, stretched out nipple. Better to pick smaller implants and have a lift to get a perkier look with longer lasting implants. If you get 700cc's you'll be back in surgery in short order no doubt to have things perked up.

Thank you for your question and photographs.  Breast implant selection is an exciting, but stressful part of the breast augmentation process as there are so many choices. Unfortunately it is impossible to recommend the best implant style, size or shape without an in-person examination that allows for the measurement of key breast parameters, as well as permits an in-depth discussion as to your desired goals and outcome. I would recommend you voice your concerns with your surgeon, they are in the best position to ensure that the implants the two of your decide upon are the right ones to meet your expectations.  It sounds as if it may be wise for you to "try on" several of the implants so that you can have a better visual representation as to what they would look like.  Best wishes!

Thanks for reaching out.  A combination breast lift and augmentation is a great operation. I would say that the best thing to do is be seen by a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon.  Your chest should be measured and that will put you in a good range for implant sized.  I am a little concerned about the mention of a 600-700cc implant in the setting of a lift.  For the most part you can say that someone with ptosis may be prone to sagging in the future. 600 and 700cc implants are heavy and may not be the best for you body type.I hope this helps :)

Thank you for your question and photo.The selection of implants requires more information than you have provided in your question. Nothing is better than an in person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon. A session of implant sizing in my office is done with every consultation and some also get a special 3D type photo showing your body with the implant and lift!In general using a 600-700cc implant on your size body will most likely give you a very large breast/cup size. I would estimate you will be at least a DD-DDD based in the limited information you have provided.Getting a breast lift at the same time may be required but also adds to the risk of nipple issues as there is a lot of compression pressure placed on the new and limited blood flow to the nipples in their new lifted/ youthful position. This may lead to issues with healing depending on the type of lift you need.Some women need less lifting when they use an implant in the size range you are considering. These items are something your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon most likely discussed with you already.Good luckMichael McNeel, MD

Ultimately, careful communication of your goals (in my practice I prefer the use of goal pictures, direct examination/communication in front of a full-length mirror, in bra sizers, and computer imaging) as well as careful measurements (dimensional planning) will be critical.

Generally speaking, the best online advice I can give to ladies who are considering breast augmentation surgery ( regarding breast implant size/profile selection) is:

1. Concentrate on choosing your plastic surgeon carefully. Concentrate on appropriate training, certification, and the ability of the plastic surgeon to achieve the results you are looking for. Ask to see lots of examples of his/her work.
2. Have a full discussion and communication regarding your desired goals with your plastic surgeon. This communication will be critical in determining breast implant size/type/profile will most likely help achieve your goals. 
In my practice, the use of photographs of “goal” pictures (and breasts that are too big or too small) is very helpful. For example, I have found that the use of know words such as “natural” or "D or DD cup” etc means different things to different people and therefore prove unhelpful.
Also, as you know, cup size varies depending on him who makes the bra; therefore, discussing desired cup size may also be inaccurate. Again, the use of computer imaging has been very helpful during the communication process, in our practice.
3. Once you feel you have communicated your goals clearly, allow your plastic surgeon to use his/her years of experience/judgment to choose the breast implant size/profile that will best meet your goals. Again, in my practice, this decision is usually made during surgery, after the use of temporary intraoperative sizers.

 You Know? Implant size (measured by cubic centimeters, or “cc”) only 
matters as far as it will help you get the look you want. In these 
photos, can you guess who has the larger sized implants?What limits how big you should go?1.
 Your current breast size. This matters because you’ve got to have 
enough existing breast tissue to cover the implant. If you haven’t got a
 lot to spare, some implants may just be too big to fit.2. Your 
chest and shoulder width. Fortunately, implants come in different base 
widths so you can get a size that works well with your frame.I recommend to make an appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon for a person evaluation and to talk about your goals. Good luck :)
